Indian Coast Guard Saves 12 Seafarers in a Daring Rescue Mission

The distress signal was received by the Indian Coast Guard’s Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) in Mumbai, setting the stage for a swift and coordinated operation.

Recognizing the urgency, MRCC Mumbai immediately informed ICG Regional Headquarters (North West) in Gandhinagar and diverted the patrolling ship ICGS Sarthak to the probable location of the incident. In an exemplary display of international collaboration, the Indian MRCC also reached out to its counterpart in Pakistan, the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA), seeking their assistance.

While ICGS Sarthak raced to the scene, a Pakistan MSA aircraft and the merchant vessel MV Cosco Glory joined the search efforts. The joint operation proved fruitful when the 12 crew members were discovered approximately 270 km west of Dwarka, within Pakistan’s Search and Rescue Region.
