Salman Khan’s film Additionally, Wanted was a remake of the Telugu film Pokiri. Ramji Rao Speaking, a 1989 Malayalam film, was remade as Hera Pheri.

The practice of Bollywood remakes of South Asian blockbusters is not new. Many times, when a movie is remade, people don’t like it as much as the original. But there have been numerous Hindi films that were remade from Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, or Malayalam films that earned a tonne of public love and acclaim and went on to earn a tonne of money at the box office.

1. Hera Pheri

This 2000 comedy film has been nominated as one of the greatest Bollywood comedies of all time. It features Paresh Rawal, Akshay Kumar, and Suniel Shetty in key parts.

Furthermore, it continues to have a sizable cult following today. However, very few people are aware that this popular movie is a remake of Ramji Rao Speaking, a Malayalam film from 1989. Arangetra Velai in Tamil, Dhanalakshmi I Love You in Telugu, and Trin Trin in Kannada were all remakes of Ramji Rao Speaking.

2. Kabir Singh

Kabir Singh, a smash successful movie starring Shahid Kapoor, is a remake of Arjun Reddy, a popular Telugu movie starring Vijay Deverakonda. However, for their portrayals of drunken surgeons, Shahid Kapoor and Vijay Deverakonda both garnered a great deal of praise. Sandeep Vanga personally wrote and directed both films. It was, however, also recreated in Tamil and given the name Adithya Varma.

3. Bhool Bhulaiyaa

One of the few Bollywood films that portray the ideal harmony of comedy and horror is this Priyadarshan production. And no one will ever forget Vidya Balan’s Manjulika’s stunning performance. The Malayalam film Manichitrathazhu, in which Malayali actress Shobana portrayed a possessed woman, is a remake of this movie. On the other hand, Bollywood actor Mohanlal took on the character of Akshay Kumar. In addition to Hindi, this movie was also translated into Kannada, Tamil, and Bengali.

 4. Singham

Singham, a movie, propelled Ajay Devgan to new heights of fame. This movie showcased Ajay Devgan’s genius as an action hero. The Tamil film Singam is being remade in this movie. However, Rohit Shetty’s new picture far outperformed the first one in terms of box office take.

5. Wanted

Fans still love the language from Salman Khan’s 2009 movie Wanted. However, this blockbuster movie is a replica of the Telugu movie Pokiri, which stars Mahesh Babu.
