In Ahmedabad, the Karnavati city BJP office celebrated the 79th Independence Day. The city president, Prerakbhai Shah, hoisted the flag to mark the occasion.
The Karnavati city media department shared that the 79th Independence Day was celebrated at the city BJP office. City president Prerakbhai Shah led the flag-hoisting ceremony.
Across the country, political parties, government offices, schools, and private organisations hold similar flag-hoisting ceremonies to mark the occasion. These local events are a common feature of the national celebration, in addition to the main ceremony at the Red Fort in Delhi.
The practice of political parties holding their own Independence Day events is a way to align their organisational identity with national pride and patriotism.

Prerakbhai Shah wished everyone a Happy Independence Day. He said, “Today is a day to remember the martyrs who gave their lives for our freedom. We should all work together to achieve Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India. We should also promise to focus on cleanliness and ‘Vocal for Local.'”
“Vocal for Local” is a call to action initiated by the Prime Minister to promote and support local businesses and products. The idea is to boost the domestic economy and make India more self-reliant, or ‘Atmanirbhar’. These themes are consistently promoted by BJP leaders at various levels.
Many people attended the event, including Member of Parliament Dinesh Makwana, all the MLAs, and other city officials and workers.
The presence of all the local MLAs indicates a united front of the party’s elected representatives in the region. This is a common practice at important party events to show solidarity and strength.
