New Delhi: Melbourne Renegades star leg-spinner Cameron Boyce scripted history on Wednesday in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2021-22. The Aussie spinner became the first-ever cricketer to take a rare “double hat-trick” in the Big Bash League history.

Boyce bagged four wickets off four balls against Sydney Thunder. He took a total of five wickets during the match, but unfortunately his team failed to win the match as Sydney Thunder defeated Melbourne Renegades by just one run in what turned out to be a nail-biting thriller.

Cameron Boyce rocked Sydney’s top order as he picked four wickets in his two overs.

The 32-year-old first dismissed England’s Alex Hales (44 runs off 22 balls) in the last ball of the seventh over. This was a big wicket for Melbourne as Hales was scoring runs with a strike rate of over 200.

After dismissing Hales, Boyce foxed Jason Sangha to get him stumped out off wicket-keeper Sam Harper, on the first ball of the ninth over.

Alex Ross got lbw out on the second ball of the same over and on the third ball, Boyce then dismissed Daniel Sams for a golden duck to complete his ‘double hat-trick’. Sangha scored just two runs. Alex Ross and Daniel Sams were dismissed for ducks.

“We still can’t believe this happened!! A double hattie from Cameron Boyce!!” BBL tweeted.

Cameron Boyce becomes eighth bowler to take hat-trick in Big Bash League

Boyce became the eighth player in the Big Bash League to take a hat-trick. The spinner also became the first bowler in the history of the tournament to take four wickets in four balls i.e a double hat-trick. Boyce is the 10th bowler in T20 history to do so. In the T20 World Cup last year, Ireland’s Curtis Camper had picked four wickets in four balls.
