The goal of Dhyan Sompura’s most recent solo exhibition, “Fragments of Infinity,” is just this. Manan Relia, Director of the Archer Art Gallery, was the main guest for the exhibition’s February 1st opening at Urmila Kailash Black Box, which was curated by Aasai. Each of the collection’s stunning mixed-media pieces explores the profound relationship between human emotions, nature, and the never-ending cycle of creation and rebirth.

By combining natural elements like sand, charcoal, oils, and watercolors, Dhyan’s work transcends conventional creative expression and produces incredibly immersive works. He depicts time, the cycles of nature, and the transient yet timeless aspect of human emotions using these components. Every piece of art asks the audience to stop and consider how they interact with nature.

“Fragments of Infinity explores the endless cycles of connection and disconnection, much like the ever-changing landscapes of human emotion and the organic processes in nature,” Dhyan explains. His approach to art is to inspire change in addition to producing aesthetically pleasing works. He intends to avoid synthetic media and promote a more environmentally sensitive style of thinking by utilizing sustainable materials.

In the fast-paced, technologically advanced world of today, Dhyan’s art acts as a subtle reminder of our duty to the environment. He is adamant that art can effectively raise awareness of environmental issues. “My goal is to encourage and persuade people to prioritize nature over this plastic-dominated world.” After all, the earth is what has sustained us thus far, so we ought to do something to safeguard it,” he says.

Twigs, feathers, and sand are among the natural objects he uses in his artworks; each one tells a tale of movement, memory, and metamorphosis. His works’ tactile textures offer an additional level of complexity, engrossing the viewer in an intriguing and provocative sensory experience.

Shalu Juneja of Unolona Academy, Dhyan’s mentor, praised his capacity to connect the concrete and the abstract, saying:

“Dhyan’s art aims to demonstrate the limitless potential of artistic expression. He uses inspiration from nature to produce immersive and emotive art in each piece. In the brief time, he has been at Unolona Academy, he has learned a great deal from us, and I do not doubt that he will continue to do so.

Aasai’s Harsimran Juneja, meantime, views this show as a turning point in Dhyan’s development. An invitation to observe the cycles of nature and the brief but enduring moments of human connection, Fragments of Infinity is an investigation of movement, memory, and emotion. For him, this is the start of an enduring journey,” he says.

The public can view the show at Urmila Kailash Black Box between February 1 and February 6, 2025, from 4 to 8 p.m. Visitors from the design and art communities will be able to interact with the artwork and discover Dhyan’s distinct viewpoint on human connection and sustainability.

Dhyan Sompura provides more than simply art with “Fragments of Infinity,” as he conveys a conversation, a movement, and a reminder of our position in the always shifting universe.
