In a significant move that strengthens India’s clean energy ambitions, Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) has secured a power transmission project worth nearly ₹2,800 crore in Gujarat. The project will play a crucial role in enabling Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia manufacturing, helping the nation move towards sustainable energy goals.
AESL, part of the globally diversified Adani Group, is India’s largest private transmission and distribution company. With this new project win, AESL adds another feather to its cap in the renewable energy space. The project is titled “Transmission System for Green Hydrogen/Ammonia Manufacturing Potential in Mundra, Gujarat” and is expected to be completed within 36 months.
The project is aimed at strengthening the power supply for the production of Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia at Mundra. Both are considered clean fuels of the future, with immense potential to reduce carbon emissions in industries such as shipping, fertilizers, and power generation.
The transmission project will involve a major upgrade of the Navinal (Mundra) electrical substation. Two large 765/400 kV transformers will be added, significantly enhancing the substation’s capacity. In addition, AESL will build a 75 km long, 765 kV double-circuit transmission line connecting Navinal to the Bhuj substation.
This development adds 150 circuit kilometers (cKM) of transmission lines and 3,000 MVA of transformation capacity to AESL’s network. With this, AESL’s total transmission line length grows to 25,928 cKM, and its total transformation capacity rises to a robust 87,186 MVA.
AESL won this crucial project through the highly competitive Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process. PFC Consulting Limited, a subsidiary of Power Finance Corporation, conducted the bidding and managed the transfer of the project’s Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to AESL on March 20, 2025.
This is AESL’s sixth major order win in the current financial year, further strengthening its position in the power transmission sector. With this project, the company’s order book now stands at an impressive ₹57,561 crore.
AESL continues to contribute significantly to India’s renewable energy ambitions. By building essential infrastructure that supports green energy production, the company is enabling industries to switch to cleaner fuels.
Green Hydrogen, produced using renewable electricity, is gaining global attention as a game-changer in the energy sector. It is set to power industries, transportation, and even homes soon. Projects like this transmission system in Gujarat are essential to ensure a reliable supply of renewable energy for producing Green Hydrogen and Ammonia.
AESL’s expertise in building large-scale transmission systems makes it a key player in India’s clean energy transition. The company’s growing portfolio reflects its commitment to building sustainable infrastructure for the country.
As India aims to become a global leader in green energy production, projects like this are vital. They not only create jobs and investment opportunities but also help the nation reduce its dependence on fossil fuels.
Adani Energy Solutions Ltd has been a pioneer in India’s power transmission sector. Known for delivering complex projects on time, AESL operates the country’s largest private transmission network. The company continues to invest in modern and efficient infrastructure, supporting India’s growing energy needs.
With this project, AESL once again proves its capability to handle large-scale projects that are vital for the nation’s future. The next three years will be crucial as the company works towards completing this landmark project in Gujarat.
