Ahmedabad Joins TTEC Wellness Walk for Health and Hope
Ahmedabad Citizens Unite for Charity at the Inspiring TTEC Wellness Walk
Ahmedabad will host the 24th Annual TTEC Wellness Walk on March 8, 2026. The event will take place on the same day as the 115th International Women’s Day, which makes the occasion even more meaningful. The walk will begin at 6:45 a.m. at the L.D. Engineering College Ground, a venue that has become closely linked with the event over the years. Thousands of people from different parts of the city are expected to join the walk, continuing a tradition that has become one of Ahmedabad’s well-known community events.
The Wellness Walk has grown steadily since it first started in 2003. At that time, it was mainly organised as a simple charity walk where people could gather for a healthy activity while supporting a social cause. Over time, it has turned into a large community initiative that connects health awareness with social responsibility. Earlier, the event was known as the Motif–TTEC Charity Walk, but it later evolved into the TTEC Wellness Walk, with a stronger focus on both community health and charitable support.
Walking events like this have become popular in many cities around the world. Health experts often say that walking is one of the easiest ways to stay active. It does not require expensive equipment, special training, or a gym membership. Even a short daily walk can improve heart health, reduce stress, and help people maintain a healthy lifestyle. Public events that encourage walking also help build a sense of community because families, friends, and colleagues take part together.
Over the past 23 walks held until 2025, the initiative has created a strong social impact. According to the organisers, the event has supported 77 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and raised more than ₹12.42 crore, or around $1.95 million. A total of 1,04,355 walkers have taken part in the event so far. This large participation shows that citizens in Ahmedabad are willing to support social causes while also caring about their own health. The event has also received support from 284 donors, including companies and individual supporters who contribute funds every year.
Corporate social responsibility programmes have become common in India during the past decade. Many companies organise community events that support education, healthcare, environmental protection, and social welfare. The TTEC Wellness Walk is one such example where employees, business partners, and citizens come together to raise funds and awareness for social work.
Funds raised this year through registrations and corporate sponsorships will support three NGOs. These organisations work in different areas of social welfare, helping vulnerable people, animals, and children from disadvantaged communities. Donations collected during the walk will be given directly to the NGOs so that the money reaches the intended beneficiaries without delay.
The first beneficiary organisation is Manav Parivar Trust in Nonghanvadar, which was established in 2013. The trust works with people who have intellectual disabilities and who may have been abandoned or left without family support. The organisation provides safe shelter, medical care, and daily nutrition to the people it supports. Rehabilitation and long-term care are also important parts of its work. Groups like Manav Parivar Trust play a key role in society because people with intellectual disabilities often need lifelong support and protection.
The second organisation, Shree Danev Foundation, was founded in 2017 and works for the welfare of stray birds and animals in Ahmedabad. Cities across India have large populations of stray animals, including dogs, birds, and other creatures that often suffer from injuries, hunger, or illness. The foundation rescues injured animals, provides veterinary treatment, and supports rehabilitation. It also promotes compassion toward animals and encourages people to live peacefully with wildlife in urban spaces.
The third NGO, Shwas Charitable Trust, was established in 2008 and focuses on helping children from underserved communities. The trust runs community learning centres where children receive academic guidance and life-skills training. The organisation also works on nutrition awareness and personal development. Programmes like these help children continue their education and improve their chances of finding good employment in the future.
Participants who wish to join the event can register online through Townscript, with a minimum registration fee of ₹300. The event will offer two participation options: a 4-kilometre walk and a 7.5-kilometre run. Such flexible categories allow people of different fitness levels to take part comfortably.
This year’s event is expected to see a strong participation of women because it coincides with International Women’s Day. The global day has been observed since 1911 and highlights the progress made toward gender equality while also reminding society that more work remains to be done. Across the world, the day is marked by events that celebrate women’s achievements and encourage leadership and social change.
According to Biju Pillai, Vice-President (Operations), TTEC India, the Wellness Walk represents more than just a public event. He said it reflects the spirit of compassion and unity built over the past two decades. The initiative shows that meaningful change can happen when people work together for the benefit of others.
The theme of this year’s celebration is “Give to Gain.” In the same spirit, the Wellness Walk encourages citizens to give back to society while also gaining the benefits of good health through walking. By combining fitness with charity, the event continues to inspire people in Ahmedabad to support social causes while building a healthier community.
