The 20,000 sq m facility would enable handling of up to 200,000 MT of cargo annually. This new cargo terminal is about the size of three football fields. It can now handle up to 200,000 metric tons each year—that’s almost four times more than before. In comparison, last year the entire airport handled about 103,000 tons of cargo across all operations. Back in early months, the airport managed around 60,000 MT total, of which only 20,000 MT came in the first few months. Clearly, this new facility marks a big leap forward.

World-class infrastructure with digital processes, safety, compliance, and transparency to ease barriers associated with air cargo shipments. This terminal brings modern tech like license-plate scanning at entries, handheld scanners, and barcoded tracking. It makes checking cargo fast and visible at every step. CCTV cameras and controlled entry points add extra safety. These standards help Gujarat’s trade meet global rules smoothly

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport, Ahmedabad, now boasts of a state-of-the-art Integrated Cargo Terminal (ICT). The airport is named after a great leader, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and it’s the busiest in Gujarat. In the latest year, over 13 million travellers used it, making it India’s seventh busiest airport The airport sits on nearly 987 acres and plays a key role in trade and passenger travel This modern terminal with over 20,000 sq m of operational area and enhanced capacity to handle cargo up to 200,000 MT annually represents a significant step up in scale and efficiency, replacing the existing setup with a capacity of 50,000 MT/year.
Before this upgrade, the airport was limited to handling 50,000 metric tons yearly. Now it’s quadrupled that capability. Even during Apr–Jul of the new year, this space helped process 20,000 MT of cargo—proof of better scale and speed

The ICT at SVPI Airport aims to bring efficiency and improve the reliability of cargo movement, enabling faster, more dependable cargo processing at SVPI Airport, Ahmedabad, and will cater to its broader catchment areas across Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
This cargo terminal doesn’t just serve Ahmedabad also helps nearby states like Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Faster processing means goods reach destinations quicker, such as pharma or garments, making their way to export buyers. This wider reach brings more opportunities for the rural industry, too

The facility upholds standards, with comprehensive CCTV, controlled access, and robust screening technology.
Industrial zones and exporters in cities like Rajkot face theft risks. While Rajkot struggles with cargo, this new SVPI cargo model shows how safe technology, secure entrances, cameras, and screening can make cargo journeys safer and faster. Innovations such as Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) at truck gates, Handheld Terminal (HHT) operations, and barcode tracking ensure real-time visibility for stakeholders, setting a new standard for supply chain technology in the region. These tools let officials and companies watch shipments in real-time—no guesswork. They reduce delays, missing packages, and errors. It’s a big upgrade over old methods that relied on paper and slow checks

A dedicated cold-chain zone has been created to preserve product integrity, while advanced features—such as high dock counts, ball transfer decking and automated equipment—would boost efficiency during peak periods.
This means fruits, medicines, and daily produce stay fresh. The cold zone keeps them cool. The special docks and rollers help packages move fast—even when many trucks arrive at once. That’s especially helpful in holiday seasons or busy times. Earlier, the perishable cargo centre had shut down and causing trouble for mango exporters. That shows how vital cold storage really is

The ICT integrates world-class infrastructure with digital processes as a state-of-the-art platform.
This makes SVPI Airport one of the most modern cargo hubs in western India. The digital-first design and smart tracking help clear customs faster, improve reporting, and reduce paperwork. This saves time and money for businesses. Reflecting Gujarat’s dynamic industrial mix, the ICT handles a broad spectrum of cargo, including e-commerce, automotive parts, pharmaceuticals, valuables, and perishables. Gujarat produces a wide variety of goods, including online orders, car parts, medicines, valuables, and food items. This terminal can handle all of it. For example, e-commerce may need fast courier services, while pharma needs tight temperature control. The terminal handles both well

Internationally, top exports include engineering goods, garments, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals.
When Gujarat sends products abroad, they often include machines, clothes, medicines, and chemicals. Now those exports can leave faster and safer through this cargo hub. The terminal is prepared to manage emerging sectors and high-value cargo such as temperature-controlled shipments, electronic components, oversized equipment, live animals, and fast-moving e-commerce consignments to support the state’s growth.
This cargo terminal is future-ready. It can handle tricky shipments like large machines, electronics, animals, and goods ordered at high speed. That keeps Gujarat ready for new industries and businesses in the years ahead

SVPIA will continue to invest in infrastructure, digital systems, and multimodal connectivity to enhance speed, reliability, and cost efficiency, thereby giving the industries in Gujarat a significant boost. They plan to keep investing in roads, rail links, software, trucks—all so businesses get their goods out cheaper and faster. That helps make Gujarat even stronger in trade. SVPI Airport remains dedicated towards establishing a modern, efficient, and resilient logistics ecosystem for Ahmedabad and the western region. This isn’t just a building. It’s a whole system—trucks, cold storage, scanning, trackingthat makes sure goods move smoothly, even in tough times. It’s a boost for everybody, farmers, factories, and online sellers across western India.
