One trial, one man. AND THE TURNING POINT OF A NATION — KESARI CHAPTER 2: THE UNTOLD STORY OF JALLIANWALA BAGH’S JUNE 13TH JIOHOTSTAR STREAMING!
Kesari Chapter 2, directed by Karan Singh Tyagi and produced by Dharma Productions, Cape Of Good Films, and Leo Media Collective, will be available for streaming on JioCinema starting on June 13, 2025.
Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh will be available exclusively on JioHotstar starting on June 13th, following a successful theatrical run. With a stellar ensemble that includes R. Madhavan, Ananya Panday, and Akshay Kumar, the movie received positive reviews at the box office and is now showcasing its stirring tale nationwide. The film is a highly charged legal drama that revisits one of colonial India’s most defining (and silenced) moments. It was directed by Karan Singh Tyagi and produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Aruna Bhatia, Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Amritpal Singh Bindra, and Anand Tiwari at Dharma Productions, Cape Of Good Films, and Leo Media Collective.
Kesari Chapter 2, which is set in the aftermath of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, centres on C. Sankaran Nair (Akshay Kumar), a single, morally upright lawyer who challenges the British Empire in court and demands that it answer for the deaths of everyone who was killed on that dreadful day. Ananya Panday portrays a motivated law student who backs Nair in his historic legal campaign, while R. Madhavan plays the strong colonial counsel. The film, which combined patriotism with moral urgency, was a box office success and has received accolades for its powerful performances, incisive writing, and moving courtroom scenes.
“Kesari Chapter 2 tells the story of an extraordinary man who chose to stand against an empire, risking everything to bring justice to the victims of one of history’s darkest moments,” stated Akshay Kumar, who played C. Sankaran Nair. The experience of playing C. Sankaran Nair was incredibly humbling and served as a reminder that even the strongest forces may be shaken by bravery and conviction. This movie pays homage to truth, resistance, and the Indian spirit in addition to being a courtroom drama. This moving tale will now reach even more people as it streams on JioHotstar starting on June 13th, following its successful theatre run.
R. Madhavan, portraying the antagonist Neville McKinley, the Crown’s lawyer, shared, “Neville McKinley is a complex character — a fierce defender of the British Empire’s interests and a formidable opponent to Akshay Kumar’s character. I was able to examine the brutal realities of colonial power and the moral tensions inside that system by portraying this nuanced figure. More than merely a movie, Kesari Chapter 2 is an engrossing depiction of a historical conflict waged not just with guns but also with laws, philosophies, and words. I’m excited for audiences to witness this intense courtroom clash, streaming on JioHotstar from June 13th.”
Ananya Panday, portraying a spirited advocate supporting C. Sankaran Nair, expressed, “Being part of Kesari Chapter 2 has been an incredibly inspiring journey. In the face of enormous injustice, my character is a ray of hope and perseverance. This film captures the essence of resilience and the relentless fight for truth after the tragic Jallianwala Bagh massacre. It’s a story that resonates deeply today, reminding us of the power of courage and collective resistance. I’m thrilled that this moving narrative will be available to audiences across India on JioHotstar from June 13th.
