Alia Bhatt at Swarrnim University Promotes Alpha Film
Alia Bhatt Meets Students at Swarrnim University During Gujarat Visit
Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt spent time with students at Swarrnim Startup & Innovation University in Gandhinagar on Tuesday, taking part in an interactive session that combined discussion, games and student performances.
The visit drew large participation from students, many of whom questioned the actor about her career in cinema, the pressures of public life and the decisions that shaped her journey in the film industry. Bhatt spoke about persistence, confidence and handling setbacks while encouraging students to continue working towards their goals.
The event came at a busy time in Bhatt’s career as she prepares for the release of Alpha, an action thriller that marks her entry into the Yash Raj Films Spy Universe, one of Hindi cinema’s biggest film franchises. The film is among the most closely watched Bollywood releases of 2026 and is expected to introduce the franchise’s first female-led spy story.
During her interaction with students, Bhatt referred to the upcoming film and invited those present to watch it in theatres after its release.
The actor, who made her screen debut in 2012 with Student of the Year, has become one of the most recognisable names in Indian cinema over the past decade. Her performances in films such as Highway, Raazi, Gangubai Kathiawadi, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani and Jigra have earned both commercial success and critical recognition. In recent years, she has also expanded into film production through her company Eternal Sunshine Productions.
For universities, visits by film personalities often serve a purpose beyond entertainment. Higher education institutions increasingly invite actors, sportspersons, entrepreneurs and industry leaders to interact with students as part of campus engagement programmes. Education experts say such events can expose students to career paths, communication skills and experiences that are rarely covered in classrooms.
At the Gandhinagar event, Bhatt joined students in the Dugout Game, a segment that added a lighter mood to the programme and encouraged participation from across the auditorium. The activity was followed by dance performances presented by students from different faculties.
The performances reflected the growing role of cultural activities on university campuses, where institutions are placing greater attention on public speaking, stage confidence and teamwork alongside academic studies. Student festivals, cultural competitions and interaction sessions have become common features across universities in Gujarat and other parts of India.
Bhatt praised the energy shown by the participants and acknowledged the reception she received during the visit. She also spoke positively about the students’ confidence and their willingness to participate in discussions and activities throughout the programme.
Swarrnim Startup & Innovation University, located near Gandhinagar, positions itself around entrepreneurship and innovation-focused education. The institution has developed programmes linked to business creation, technology and industry engagement as part of a wider trend in Indian higher education that encourages students to consider start-up ventures alongside traditional employment options.
The emphasis on entrepreneurship has grown significantly in India during the past decade. Government-backed programmes such as Startup India and state-level initiatives have encouraged universities to create incubation centres, innovation labs and mentoring programmes for young founders. Gujarat has been one of the states actively promoting student entrepreneurship through funding support, competitions and start-up development schemes.
Universities have increasingly become part of this ecosystem by bringing business leaders, investors and public figures onto campuses. While entrepreneurs and corporate executives remain regular speakers, appearances by actors and cultural figures often attract wider student interest and participation.
Bhatt’s visit followed a series of high-profile campus engagements held by educational institutions across Gujarat during the past year as universities compete to strengthen student life beyond lectures and examinations.
The event also reflected the growing relationship between the entertainment industry and educational institutions, particularly at a time when students are consuming films, streaming content and social media in greater numbers than previous generations. Interactions with public figures often create opportunities for discussions around careers, creativity, discipline and public responsibility.
For many students attending the programme, the chance to speak directly with one of India’s leading actors was likely to remain the most memorable part of the day.
As Alpha approaches its theatrical release, Bhatt continues to promote the film across different cities and public events. The production, directed by Shiv Rawail and backed by Yash Raj Films, features Bhatt alongside Sharvari, Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor and R. Madhavan. Industry observers view the project as an important test for female-led action films within mainstream Hindi cinema.
At Swarrnim University, however, the focus remained on the students, their questions and their performances, turning the visit into an event that blended cinema, campus culture and conversation in equal measure.
