Anant National University’s New Home Brings Future Comfort

The latest addition to Anant’s World-Class Infrastructure for Transformative Learning Ecosystem, Mr Ajay Piramal, President, Anant National University, inaugurated Anant’s newest building, Faculty and Graduate Housing, on 1 September 2025 in the presence of key members of the university leadership. I researched and found that Anant National University is India’s first DesignX university, offering multidisciplinary education in design, architecture, built environment. This new Faculty and Graduate Housing marks another step in its mission to nurture thoughtful design thinkers and solutionaries.
During the visit, Mr Piramal also interacted with the faculty and students, encouraging them to follow their passion and use their creativity to design solutions for global impact, something that Anant National University prepares them for. That emphasis on creative, global impact fits perfectly with Anant’s DesignX approach, a philosophy combining heart (empathy), head (learning), and hand (making), to build sustainable solutions through interdisciplinary thinking.
He said, “India is a young country, and you are the future. You can make a difference with your design thinking and develop solutions that are unique to India and globally relevant. Anant offers that opportunity and scope for you to create impactful solutions.”Anant’s president’s words echo their mission of shaping solutionaries, designers who act, invent, and make the world better—a term Anant embraces to describe its future-minded students.
The newly built facility, designed by acclaimed Rushabh Parekh Design Studio (RPDS), has a built-up area of 26,475 sq m and comprises 172 apartments, including studio apartments and 1, 2 and 3 BHK homes.RPDS, led by architect-educator Rushabh Parekh, is known for combining modern technology with rich textures and elegant minimalism. Their focus on research, experimentation and materiality makes them well-suited for creating warm, thoughtful living spaces. A true home-away-from-home crafted with care and attention to detail, the housing also features thoughtfully designed common spaces, a gymnasium, yoga room, café and a visitor’s lounge.
These amenities reflect Anant’s holistic view of wellbeing spaces that support physical health, creative interaction, and social bonding alongside design-driven learning. Ensuring safety, the residence is equipped with CCTV surveillance across all common areas and is secured round the clock by Anant’s dedicated security team. Safety and security have always been critical. Earlier, the Student Housing 2 (SH2) building also featured RTCV and 24-hour security, a consistent policy across the campus
Anant is currently undergoing a massive infrastructural transformation, expanding over 1.5 lakh sq m to create a world-class learning environment. The state-of-the-art academic centres, equipped with cutting-edge technology, will ensure that students have access to the latest innovations in design and technology. Supporting this, Anant’s campus already includes future-ready academic blocks featuring robots, laser cutters, 3D-printers and other emerging technologies
What makes this expansion unique is the involvement of some of the world’s most renowned architects, including BV Doshi/Rajeev Kathpalia, Bimal Patel, Rahul Mehrotra, Sasaki, Hafeez Contractor, Aniket Bhagwat and Vijay Arya. Collaborating with such celebrated design minds ensures Anant’s environment is rich, diverse, and reflective of India’s design legacy alongside global innovation—a strong foundation for world-class learning.
With this expansion, Anant National University reaffirms its commitment to providing world-class infrastructure to facilitate world-class learning, while also contributing to the mission of Viksit Bharat through design-driven innovation and excellence. Anant was established in 2016 by the Laxman Gyanpith Trust and is recognised by UGC and the Council of Architecture. It was also ranked 37th in India for architecture in the NIRF 2024 rankings. That gives context to how rapidly it’s growing toward becoming a high-impact design university.
