Get ready for an exciting ride as Disney+ Hotstar unveils its upcoming action-drama series ‘Bad Cop.’ This new show promises to take the classic cop vs. villain chase to a whole new level with plenty of twists and turns. Starring Gulshan Devaiah as the fearless cop Karan, and Anurag Kashyap as the cunning and dangerous villain Kazbe, ‘Bad Cop’ is set to captivate audiences with its thrilling narrative and intriguing characters.

An Exciting New Adventure

‘Bad Cop’ is Disney+ Hotstar’s latest addition to its roster of original content, and it marks the first fictional series production in India by Fremantle India. Directed by Aditya Datt and adapted by Rensil D’Silva, the show introduces a gripping storyline where a determined cop, Karan, pursues Kazbe, a villain who is not only more powerful but also more deadly. The series also explores Karan’s efforts to balance his professional and personal life, adding another layer of complexity to the narrative.

Meet the Cast and Crew

The series boasts an impressive cast including Harleen Sethi, Saurabh Sachdeva, and Aishwarya Sushmita in pivotal roles. Aditya Datt, known for his expertise in crafting action-packed dramas, directs the series. Rensil D’Silva, who has a knack for creating intriguing and multi-dimensional characters, has reimagined this classic story in an Indian context.

Aradhana Bhola, Managing Director of Fremantle India, expressed her excitement about this new venture. “We are thrilled to begin a new chapter in Fremantle India’s journey with our very first drama web series, ‘Bad Cop.’ To bring the Indian version of this format, created by RTL, to life for Disney+ Hotstar, we collaborated with some of the best talent in the industry. Writer Rensil D’Silva has brilliantly reimagined this quirky yet intense world, and our talented ensemble cast, led by Gulshan Devaiah, Harleen Sethi, Saurabh Sachdeva, and Anurag Kashyap, have brought these rooted characters to life under Aditya Datt’s direction.”

Aditya Datt’s Vision

Aditya Datt, the director, shared his enthusiasm for the project, saying, “We are super happy to bring a story that is classic, quirky, thrilling, and full of action! ‘Bad Cop’ is a hardcore classic cop vs. villain chase, but with a fun twist that will keep you intrigued till the end. The series features high-octane action, and eccentric characters, and is a complete entertainer. Each character has been crafted with utmost depth and detail, and our fabulous actors have done an incredible job bringing them to life. Collaborating with Disney+ Hotstar and Fremantle India was a remarkable experience, as we were all chasing the same vision for the series. We hope audiences enjoy this adventure as much as we enjoyed creating it.”

Anurag Kashyap as Kazbe

Anurag Kashyap, known for creating a variety of dark and quirky characters, takes on a new challenge as the villain Kazbe. “I have created many characters that are gory, quirky, and dark, but believe it or not, it was difficult for me to be one. Kazbe is someone who doesn’t think too much before doing anything; he just does it. He is dreadful, eccentric, nefarious, and a quintessential villain. I had to dive deep into the intricacies of this character and make it my own. Being directed by Aditya Datt was a great experience, and collaborating with partners like Disney+ Hotstar and Fremantle India was incredible,” said Kashyap.

Gulshan Devaiah as Karan

Gulshan Devaiah, who plays the lead role of Karan, shared his excitement about working on ‘Bad Cop.’ “I had a lot of fun working on ‘Bad Cop’ because it’s an out-and-out entertainer. This role is very different for me. I played a different cop in another show as Devilal, but here it’s more of a messy, entertaining kind of cop. I was familiar with Aditya Datt’s style since I had worked with him before. He is very straightforward and aims to make an entertaining, cool show that people will enjoy. The action scenes were a bit tough, especially the running, which challenged me because I’m not used to doing action and I’m not physically built for it. Overall, it was fun working with Fremantle India and Disney+ Hotstar. Moreover, it was enjoyable to perform with Anurag, who had only directed and produced my films earlier, but it was fun to do scenes and action with him. It was a great moment for me because I never expected to be acting with him. I’m curious to see how people will enjoy my version of a filmy cop. Hopefully, it’s fun for the viewers as well, so I’m very eager to know their reactions.”

A New Chapter for Fremantle India

Aradhana Bhola highlighted the significance of this project for Fremantle India. “’Bad Cop’ marks a significant milestone in Fremantle India’s journey. To bring this series to life, we worked with some of the best talent. From Rensil D’Silva’s writing to Aditya Datt’s direction and the stellar performances by our cast, every aspect of this production has been crafted with care and dedication. We hope that our excitement translates to the audience and that they love ‘Bad Cop’ as much as we have loved creating it.”

What to Expect from ‘Bad Cop’

The series promises to be a complete entertainer with high-energy action sequences, quirky characters, and a storyline that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Karan, played by Gulshan Devaiah, is a relentless cop in his pursuit of justice. He faces Kazbe, a villain who is not only cunning and dangerous but also possesses a certain charm that makes him a formidable opponent. The dynamic between Karan and Kazbe is central to the series, with each episode offering new twists and turns that keep the audience guessing.

The Action and Thrills

One of the standout features of ‘Bad Cop’ is its high-octane action sequences. Aditya Datt has ensured that the action is visually spectacular and integral to the storyline. Gulshan Devaiah’s portrayal of Karan involves intense physical preparation, as he had to perform numerous stunts and action scenes. The action sequences are designed to be realistic and thrilling, adding to the overall excitement of the series.

Character Depth and Development

Beyond the action, ‘Bad Cop’ also focuses on the depth and development of its characters. Karan is not just a cop; he is a man with a complex personal life, trying to balance his duty with his relationships. Similarly, Kazbe is not just a villain; he is a multifaceted character with his motivations and backstory. This depth of character adds a layer of richness to the series, making it more than just a typical action drama.

A Collaborative Effort

The making of ‘Bad Cop’ was a collaborative effort involving some of the best talents in the industry. From the writers to the directors and the cast, everyone worked together to bring this story to life. The synergy between Disney+ Hotstar, Fremantle India, and the creative team is evident in the final product. Each episode is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved.
