ASIA English School celebrated India’s 79th Independence Day with grandeur and pride, marking the occasion in the school’s 61st year of delivering quality education.
ASIA English School was founded in 1965, making 2025 its 61st year of serving students faithfully. Schools that reach six decades often become important parts of their community, building trust and respect over time.
The event brought together students, parents, faculty, Trustees of ASIA Charitable Trust, members of the Managing Committee, dignitaries, and well-wishers in a vibrant and patriotic ceremony.
Such gatherings are powerful—they bring groups together in shared pride. Across India, schools often invite community members and parents to help young learners understand independence as both a personal and collective achievement.
The programme commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag and the singing of the National Anthem, setting an atmosphere of unity and reverence.
These ceremonial symbols—hoisting the tricolour and singing “Jana Gana Mana” are core to Independence Day celebrations across India. They remind children of freedom and make them feel proud.
Chairman Dr. M. P. Chandran delivered a powerful and motivating address, paying tribute to the sacrifices of the nation’s freedom fighters and highlighting the responsibility of every citizen to uphold honesty, respect, and compassion. He urged students to pursue wisdom beyond academics, teachers to inspire curiosity beyond syllabi, and all citizens to keep the spirit of the tricolour alive in their hearts.
Invoking honesty, respect, and compassion echoes national values taught in schools everywhere. The idea of “going beyond academics” helps students see that learning and values both matter in nation-building. This aligns with themes like “youth as the architects of tomorrow.
Principal Mr. Francis Fernandes followed with an inspiring speech on the theme “Naya Bharat”, urging students to play an active role in building a new India founded on equality, dignity, and opportunity. Drawing on the school’s six-decade legacy, he emphasised that transformation begins with small, consistent actions, and challenged each student to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s progress.
The “Naya Bharat” theme is widely used in 2025 celebrations, including the Prime Minister’s Independence Day speech, calling for a self-reliant and prosperous future. Students and schools nationwide are embracing this theme as a way to connect local efforts to national growth.
The cultural segment showcased patriotic songs, dances, and performances portraying India’s heritage and resilience, receiving enthusiastic applause.
Cultural programs—songs, dances, dramas—help students learn history while expressing pride. Across India, schools often stage such performances to celebrate unity and diversity.
The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks, distribution of sweets, and a collective pledge to uphold the values of freedom, unity, and excellence that define both the nation and ASIA English School.
Giving sweets and ending with a pledge are common and meaningful gestures. They let students remember the day warmly and reflect on values like unity and excellence.
