In May 2025, Bespoke Art Gallery at Sindhu Bhavan Road in Ahmedabad is hosting a special art exhibition titled “Purusha Prakriti.” This event is curated and conceptualised by the well-known art historian Uma Nair and was hosted and presented by the

gallery’s founder, Devin Gawarvala. The exhibition is a heartfelt tribute to the late Indian modernist artist Himmat Shah, who passed away in March 2025.
“Purusha Prakriti” explores the deep connection between humans (Purusha) and nature (Prakriti). The exhibition features a diverse range of artworks, including sculptures, ceramics, drawings, printmaking, and paintings. These pieces reflect the harmony between man and nature, a theme that is especially relevant in today’s world.
The exhibition showcases sculptures made from various materials like bronze, terracotta, wood, and upcycled items. Artists such as Arzan Khambhatta, Dhananjay Singh, Ankon Mitra, and Karl Antao have contributed to this segment. Outdoor installations by Debashish Bera and Ankit Patel celebrate India’s rich cultural traditions.
Ceramic artworks by masters like Vipul Kumar, Vineet Kacker, and Leena Batra are also on display. The drawing section includes works by Sanjay Bhattacharyya, KG Subramanyan, and Arijoy Bhattacharyya.
The printmaking segment honours Gujarat’s artistic legacy, featuring pieces by KG Subramanyan, Jyoti Bhatt, Rini Dhumal, and Subrat Kumar Behera. Paintings by artists like Manu Parekh, Arpitha Reddy, Pratul Dash, and Poonam Bhatnagar explore themes of spirituality, mythology, and the feminine form. Notably, Muzaffar Ali presents a new calligraphy series that he began in Delhi in 2024.

Devin Gawarvala, the founder of Bespoke Art Gallery, expressed his pride in hosting this exhibition. He stated, “It is a great honour to host ‘Purusha Prakriti,’ a show that reflects the importance of different mediums and materials in Indian contemporary art. This is the first time so many known and unknown masters are coming together. BESPOKE is proud to be part of this venture; we hope to do many more exhibitions in the future.”
“Purusha Prakriti” is more than just an art exhibition; it’s a journey through time, form, and the spirit of the earth. Visitors can experience the harmonious blend of traditional techniques with contemporary narratives, capturing the delicate relationship between humanity and nature.
The exhibition is open throughout May 2025 at Bespoke Art Gallery in Ahmedabad. Art enthusiasts and the general public are encouraged to visit and immerse themselves in this unique artistic experience.
