Bookflix 2025 opened at Adani International School (ADIS) in Shantigram, Ahmedabad, with great excitement and joy. This is the third and biggest edition of the school’s annual celebration of books and storytelling. The event brings together students, teachers, authors and creative minds to explore the world of reading.

The opening ceremony became even more special because the Chief Guest was Padma Bhushan awardee and popular author Mrs Sudha Murty. She is loved by children across India for her stories and her simple and wise way of teaching life values. Her presence gave a strong start to the festival.
Mrs Namrata Adani, Promoter of ADIS, welcomed Mrs Sudha Murty and thanked her for inspiring young readers everywhere. She shared how the school had been preparing for Bookflix with activities like book exchanges, debates and fun storytelling events. She said the goal is to help students enjoy reading and learn kindness, creativity and good values through stories.
Adani International School follows a learner-centred approach. The school believes that books, imagination and the arts should be a big part of daily learning. Bookflix shows how ADIS focuses on the full development of every student, shaping both mind and character. Reading helps learners think clearly, ask questions and understand the world around them.
During the programme, Mrs Sudha Murty addressed about 800 students gathered on campus. Her talk lasted around 30 minutes and was followed by a friendly Q&A session. Students were excited to ask her questions about her books, where she gets ideas and how she writes. They were curious about her life as well, including her time as India’s first woman engineer at TELCO and her years of service with the Infosys Foundation.
Mrs Sudha Murty shared simple and powerful advice. She told students that school life gives many chances to learn new things. She compared school experiences to stones that can turn into diamonds later in life, if children work hard and stay disciplined. She encouraged every student to join school activities with interest because today’s small steps build tomorrow’s success.
She also spoke to parents and reminded them that every child should be allowed to choose their own path. She said parents must guide their children, but not force them to follow dreams they did not achieve themselves. She stressed that talent alone is not enough. Success needs dedication, respect for time and good behaviour.
Mrs Sudha Murty spoke warmly about reading. She said books make children more thoughtful and aware. They help young people understand different lives and emotions. She appreciated the school for giving reading such importance and making it a part of learning every day.
Students were thrilled to meet the author of famous books like Grandmother’s Bag of Stories, Gopi Diaries, Three Thousand Stitches and Wise and Otherwise. Many children shared how her books make them feel happy, brave and more caring. Her journey from a small town in Karnataka to becoming a respected figure in India continues to inspire children and adults alike.
As a mark of love and respect, ADIS students presented her with two special books. One was created by Primary Years learners and linked their work with the IB Learner Profile. The second was a collection of handwritten letters from older students. They wrote how her values encourage them to become better human beings. Students also offered a collaborative artwork called “समवृद्धिः (Samavṛddhiḥ)” which means Growing Together. It included colourful themes like courage, innovation, curiosity and kindness.
The festival will continue till 27 November. The school has created a bright and lively space with storytelling corners, author interactions, creative writing sessions and fun character-based activities. Bookflix helps children discover new books, make friends through stories and share ideas freely.
Ending the ceremony, Mrs Namrata Adani declared Bookflix 2025 open. She invited everyone to dive into the magic of stories and enjoy the joy of reading. Bookflix stands as a promise from ADIS to build confident, curious and compassionate lifelong learners. It celebrates imagination and reminds every child that books can take them anywhere they want to go.
