Ahmedabad opens doors to the grand Cat Championship Show, full of feline charm
4th December, 2025, Ankur CBSE School, Paldi, Ahmedabad: Feline Club of India (FCI) officials today proudly announced that it is organising a Cat Championship Show on the 7th December, 2025, at EKA Club, Kankaria, Ahmedabad. This is the fourth show in Ahmedabad since the first one in 2022. Incidentally, this year’s venue is the same one where the Filmfare awards were held recently. The state-of-the-art venue will now witness some wonderful Feline celebrities showcase their style quotient.
This event has become one of the most awaited gatherings for cat lovers across Gujarat. Over the years, FCI shows have gained strong popularity due to the rising awareness about cat care, responsible pet ownership and the growing interest in different cat breeds in India. Many families attend these shows not only to see the cats but to learn about their health, grooming and daily needs.
“The show will have international judges judging the cats; pet lovers will get an opportunity to see more than 300 cats of various breeds like Persian, Bengal, Classic long hair, Exotic short hair, Maine Coon, etc. FCI has also taken special efforts to give recognition to Indian stray cats and register the breed as ‘INDIMAU’, encouraging their participation in the shows as well,” said Mr Saquib Pathan, President of FCI.
International judges add great value to these shows. Many of them come from places like Europe, the United States and Southeast Asia, where cat exhibitions have been popular for decades. Their presence ensures fair judging and also helps Indian breeders learn global standards in grooming, behaviour and breed quality. The mention of well-known breeds such as Persian and Maine Coon always excites visitors because these cats are known for their beautiful coats, friendly nature and strong personalities.
FCI’s effort to promote ‘INDIMAU’ is a major milestone for the Indian cat community. This move encourages people to adopt stray cats, give them better lives and appreciate their natural traits. In recent years, Indian stray cats have gained recognition for their intelligence, strong immunity and loving nature. Creating an official breed category helps them take part in competitions, which boosts awareness and reduces stigma around Indian community cats.
There will be various activities for people to participate in, a knowledge zone about cats, Veterinary experts, etc. People can even adopt a cat from the cat NGOs present there, informed Mr Zahid Khan.
The knowledge zone is expected to attract many new pet parents. Experts often speak about common topics such as good cat food, the importance of regular vaccinations, tips for grooming long-haired breeds and how to manage cats at home. Veterinary experts will also guide people on early signs of illness, healthy diet choices and mental stimulation for indoor cats. Many first-time cat owners benefit from these friendly, simple sessions.
Cat NGOs will also attend the event. They usually bring rescued kittens and adult cats that are ready for adoption. Visitors who want to add a pet to their family can meet these rescue cats, understand their background and choose one to adopt. This helps reduce the number of homeless cats in the city.
The exhibition hall will have more than 50 stalls of major pet-related companies, including food, accessories and services. The Show will open from 11 am to 7 pm.
These stalls usually showcase new cat foods, litter solutions, toys, grooming tools and health supplements. Many brands also give trial packs and product demonstrations. Families enjoy exploring new items for their pets because it helps them upgrade their cats’ daily routine.
FCI welcomes all proud Feline owners of the city to join the event and benefit from the experience. The event is expected to draw huge crowds, including breeders, families, young students and animal lovers. With cats, competitions, adoption corners and expert talks, the 2025 show aims to celebrate the growing feline culture in India.
