CSR for a Secure and Sustainable Society Inspires Leaders

Newz Daddy Educational Updates

Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) successfully organised a high-impact one-day CSR Roundtable on the theme “Building a Secure and Sustainable Society.” The event brought together respected thinkers, corporate leaders and academic experts to explore new ways of strengthening sustainable community development using strong Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practices. Many of the participants shared that CSR has now moved beyond charity and is becoming a key tool for improving national security, education, skills and social well-being.

The roundtable was attended by the Vice-Chancellor of RRU, Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel. He was joined by Dr Abhishek Lakhtakia, Chief Executive Officer of Adani Foundation, and Shri Ashwini Saxena, Chief Executive Officer of the GMR Varalakshmi Foundation. Both Guests of Honour brought rich experience from large-scale CSR work across India. Their presence highlighted how universities and corporations can work together to solve social problems virtually.

More than 30 respected organisations took part. These included major public and private leaders such as Adani Foundation, ONGC, HCL Foundation, Gujarat CSR Authority, GSPCL, CDSL, Checkmate Security, ADC Bank, CPCL, Union Bank of India, Wagh Bakri, CISS Security, TCS, Kirloskar Brothers, GRAMAX Cybertech, Reliance Retail, RJIL Foundation, Croma, Jio, ICMR, Infibeam Avenues, NSDC, Priyajit Security, Resecurity, Pioneer Security and Allied Services, Bank of Baroda and many others. Their wide range showed how CSR now covers many fields, from education and health to digital safety and environmental care.

The programme began with warm welcome remarks by Prof. (Dr.) Priyanka Sharma, Dean of Extension and Distance Learning. She spoke about the importance of joint discussion and knowledge exchange. Her remarks reflected a growing belief that CSR works best when the community, experts and companies talk openly about problems and solutions. She noted how India’s CSR rules have pushed companies to focus more on long-term, meaningful work.

Dr Dharmeshkumar Prajapati shared RRU’s recent achievements and ongoing projects. He explained how the university works closely with industry to build skills, promote social awareness and support community development. Many participants noted that in today’s times, issues like cyber fraud, social safety, disaster risks and mental health need strong partnerships between universities and companies. RRU’s model of combining academic knowledge with ground-level action was appreciated.

Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel delivered the special address. He spoke about RRU’s vision, based on the TREE Model: Training, Research, Education and Extension. He explained that each pillar plays a role in building a strong nation.

He shared that training programmes in law enforcement, disaster management and cybersecurity are already helping police forces, government departments and NGOs work better. These areas have grown in importance as India faces rising cybercrime, climate events and new security threats.

In research, RRU is working on national security, public safety and technology. Many studies help government bodies understand new risks. These include cyber safety, maritime security and artificial intelligence. International tie-ups and published papers add to India’s knowledge base.

Education at RRU includes courses from undergraduate to doctoral levels. Students are taught with a modern curriculum, field visits and skill-based learning. This prepares them to take up leadership roles in security and social development.

Extension activities include public awareness events, seminars, community outreach and work with local bodies. These programmes help citizens understand safety, digital risks and physical fitness. Many companies at the roundtable praised this model because it helps CSR work reach people faster.

Prof. Patel also spoke about national goals such as financial inclusion, maritime protection, cybersecurity, environmental resilience and border safety. He said RRU aims to support an Atmanirbhar and Atmasurakshit Bharat by joining hands with industry, communities and government agencies.

Guest of Honour, Dr Abhishek Lakhtakia, highlighted the need for well-planned CSR activities. He said that knowledge shared by RRU’s school directors could lead to strong partnerships. He added that CSR must focus on specific community needs so that resources are used wisely.

Guest of Honour, Shri Ashwini Saxena, spoke about the role of companies in solving social issues. He said CSR should be carried out with unity and care, not as a formality. He encouraged corporations to focus on long-term community transformation.

The session had a special presence—Olympic Bronze Medallist and Indian boxer Ms Lovlina Borgohain. As Founder of the Lovlina Boxing Academy and an Assam Police officer, she shared how sports, discipline and community support can uplift youth.

Directors from RRU’s specialised schools presented CSR-backed projects in Marine Security, Cybersecurity, Internal Security, Criminal Law, Defence Studies, Sports and Physical Education. Organisations such as HCL Foundation, NSDC, Kirloskar Brothers and Infibeam Avenues discussed their ongoing work and future partnership ideas.

The roundtable ended with Prof. (Dr.) Priyanka Sharma is summarising the collective insights and highlighting new areas for joint work. Participants left with fresh ideas and a stronger resolve to build a safer and more sustainable society.
