The DPS Basketball Tournament Girls (Open) 2025: Opening Ceremony

DPS Bopal Ahmedabad had the privilege of hosting the Zone 5 & 6 DPS Basketball Girls (Open) Tournament 2025 on 31 October 2025, marking the beginning of a vibrant three-day sporting celebration. The event is being hosted under the esteemed aegis of the Delhi Public School Society.

The opening ceremony was a grand celebration of sportsmanship, unity, and athletic excellence, bringing together 7 spirited teams from zones 5 and 6 to compete in this much-anticipated tournament.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of distinguished guests Mr. Vinay Kaushik, Inspector at the Income Tax Department and a renowned basketball player who represented India at the Asian Basketball Championships held in the Philippines (2013) and China (2015), and Mr. Shafiq Shaikh, Secretary of the Gujarat Basketball Association.

Ms. Sabina Sawhney, the Principal, DPS–Bopal, addressed the gathering with her inspiring words. She urged the young athletes to play with grace and integrity, reminding them that winning and losing are both parts of the game. A true sportsperson must remain organised, uphold integrity, and always exercise fair play. Her words resonated deeply, inspiring the participants to embody the highest ideals of sportsmanship.

The ceremony featured an impressive lineup of performances. A dynamic dance presentation, a soulful song, and a spirited march-past by the 7 participating teams. Each team paraded with pride, symbolising the camaraderie and commitment that define this tournament.

The special guest, Mr. Vinay Kaushik, formally declared the tournament open. In his address, he encouraged the players to “play with heart and treat every match as a lesson in teamwork.”

With such an inspiring beginning, the DPS Basketball Girls (Open) Tournament – 2025 promises three days of spirited competition and sportsmanship. As the courts echo with the rhythm of the game, the tournament stands as a shining testament to the joy of striving together toward excellence.
