The producers of Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3 have confirmed that the popular franchise’s third installment is in the works.
In 2013, Mohanlal’s Malayalam crime thriller Drishyam introduced us to the world of George Kutty. He later continued the journey in Drishyam 2 in 2021, and moviegoers have been waiting for the third installment in the blockbuster franchise ever since, and their wait has finally come to an end. At a recent award ceremony, South producer Antony Perumbavoor confirmed the sequel. A video of the award ceremony is also going viral on the internet.
Manobala Vijayabala, a trade expert, also tweeted “Producer Antony Perumbavoor confirmed #Drishyam3 at the Mazhavil Entertainment Awards. #Mohanlal.” Drishyam told the story of George Kutty, a common man, his wife, and their two daughters, who come under police investigation after a teenage boy, Varun Prabhakar, the son of the Inspector-General of Police, goes missing. To keep his family out of jail, the protagonist must jump through several hoops.
This commercially successful film was also remade in Hindi, with Ajay Devgn, Tabu, and Shriya Saran starring in the lead roles. This Malayalam film has also been remade in Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu. Apart from Mohanlal, Meena, Ansiba Hassan, and Esther Anil are expected to reprise their roles from the original drama, while the rest of the cast and crew are still unknown.
Mohanlal will also play the lead in the multilingual film Vrushabha. Nanda Kishore is directing the project, which is billed as a high-octane father-son drama. It is also expected that the venture will address the two most powerful emotions that govern the world: love and vengeance.
