Electric Commercial Vehicle Gujarat Boosts Clean Mobility Today
Newzdaddy Daily Updates
Montra Electric, the clean-mobility wing of India’s Murugappa Group, has taken a major step into Gujarat with its first small commercial electric vehicle (e-SCV) dealership in Ahmedabad. Operated by DHI Mobility Pvt. Ltd., this new outlet reinforces Montra Electric’s drive to bring clean commercial transportation into one of India’s busiest industrial hubs.
Located in Ahmedabad, a city at the heart of Gujarat’s commercial and industrial growth, the new dealership offers fleet operators access to Montra’s e-SCV solutions alongside full service and support. The partnership with DHI Mobility adds local strength to Montra’s national strategy.
Montra Electric’s CEO of the e-SCV division, Saju Nair, said that Gujarat was a “vital market for commercial mobility” and that Ahmedabad sits at its centre. He emphasised that the model being introduced (the “EVIATOR”) has been field-tested in diverse terrains and is built to deliver power, range and efficiency aligned with the priorities of modern logistics businesses.
Indeed, according to Montra’s product information, the EVIATOR delivers 80 kW peak power and 300 Nm peak torque, and offers a 1.7-tonne payload capacity with a large loading deck of about 10.4 feet. The manufacturer also lists a real-world range of around 170 km and a certified range up to 245 km. The vehicle is equipped with advanced features such as telematics, connected app integration and CCS2 fast-charging capability.
DHI Mobility’s dealer principal, Kuren Amin, said they are excited to bring the EVIATOR to Ahmedabad. He noted that their focus is on “seamless, reliable and customer-centric mobility solutions” that help businesses transition to clean energy without sacrificing performance or profitability. With Montra Electric’s proven technology and DHI Mobility’s local service commitment, they are confident about driving the adoption of intelligent electric commercial vehicles across Gujarat.
The new outlet is positioned to serve businesses across Ahmedabad and nearby regions, reflecting the city’s role as a fast-growing commercial and industrial hub. By offering direct access to Montra Electric’s performance-driven e-SCV solutions alongside robust after-sales service and customer-support infrastructure, the dealership aims to lower the barrier for fleets to switch to electric.
In terms of what this means for Montra Electric staying on brand, the company’s background is rooted in the Murugappa Group’s century-plus manufacturing legacy. Montra Electric describes itself as a pioneer in clean mobility, operating under four business verticals: heavy commercial vehicles, mid & small commercial vehicles (like this EVIATOR), last-mile three-wheelers, and electric tractors. By launching this e-SCV dealership in Gujarat, Montra Electric is reinforcing its commitment to expanding clean commercial mobility across key business corridors in India.
From a business perspective, the move taps into several favourable factors: Gujarat has strong industrial activity, logistics demand and commercial vehicle usage. An electric small-commercial vehicle that can handle mid- and last-mile delivery with solid payload, decent range and fast charging gives fleets the tools to reduce emissions and running costs. Montra’s vehicle specs suggest it competes well in this space. For example, the payload of approximately 1.7 tonnes stands out as a notable feature for an electric SCV in India.
Additionally, by partnering with a local dealership (DHI Mobility) and setting up service infrastructure, Montra addresses a key challenge in EV commercial adoption: uptime and after-sales support. The presence of fast charging (CCS2) and telematics adds to the attractiveness for fleet operators concerned with efficiency and total cost of ownership. The launch in Ahmedabad marks a strategic push by Montra Electric into Gujarat’s commercial mobility space. With strong vehicle specifications, local dealership support, and a legacy brand backing the venture, the stage is set for clean mobility adoption in one of India’s vibrant industrial states.
