Entrepreneurial Adventures Camp Fosters Entrepreneurial Skills in Students

Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad, and Pandit Sunderlal Sharma Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), Bhopal, jointly organised the Entrepreneurship Adventure Camp from August 18 to 23, 2025, for vocational students of classes 11th & 12th. This camp comes at a time when India is actively promoting skill-based education and entrepreneurship among youth to create future innovators and job creators.

60 students and 7 teachers from seven districts of Gujarat are participating in the camp. The diversity of students enables cross-learning, cultural exchange, and teamwork, which are critical for developing entrepreneurial mindsets. Exposure to peers from different districts also encourages students to think beyond local boundaries and embrace broader business perspectives.

The residential camp is designed to shape and develop entrepreneurial skills and competencies through classroom activities, interaction sessions, and field visits. Residential programs are particularly effective because they provide immersive learning, allowing students to fully engage in creative problem-solving and leadership activities without distractions. Studies show that hands-on, experiential learning significantly improves retention of entrepreneurial concepts among students.

The camp is supported by Pandit Sunderlal Sharma Central Institute of Vocational Education(PSSCIVE), Bhopal, a constituent unit of National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), Govt of India. PSSCIVE is known for designing vocational curricula and fostering skill development at the school and college levels. Collaboration with EDII, a pioneer in entrepreneurship education in India, ensures that students receive world-class exposure to entrepreneurial training methodologies.

As part of the camp, a special session was held on August 21, 2025. Prof. Dinesh Prasad Saklani, Director, NCERT, joined the session virtually. Virtual interactions with senior academicians allow students to understand national-level initiatives and educational priorities in entrepreneurship and skill development.

Dr. Sunil Shukla, Director General, EDII, was also present during the session. EDII has been at the forefront of nurturing entrepreneurs since its inception in 1983, offering programs ranging from short-term workshops to full-fledged postgraduate courses in entrepreneurship and management.

Prof. Dinesh Prasad Saklani, Director, NCERT, interacted with the students virtually and said, “Youth of the nation should be willing to contribute towards nation-building, and entrepreneurship gives them this opportunity. The purpose of such skill-based education is not just to prepare youths to secure employment but to groom them in a way that they get equipped to play a vital role in shaping the future of the nation.” His remarks reflect the government’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and youth-led innovation, where entrepreneurial skills empower students to create solutions for societal challenges.

Addressing the students, Dr. Sunil Shukla, Director General, EDII, spoke about the opportunities and challenges in the field of entrepreneurship. He remarked, “Entrepreneurship is not merely about business; it is about innovation, leadership and possesses the power to bring social transformation. Children can be imparted entrepreneurial competencies and skills through structured training, and this process needs to start early for them. I am happy that NCERT has decided to give this exposure to students and place them on the path of higher-order achievements.” Early exposure to entrepreneurial skills helps students develop critical thinking, resilience, and adaptability—qualities essential for running successful ventures in the modern economy.

Dr. Deepak Paliwal, Joint Director, PSSCIVE, Bhopal, said, “The Institute has been consistently working towards skill development and such initiatives play a major role in readying the future generation with skills that will help define their future.” Vocational education combined with entrepreneurship training ensures students are job-ready and can explore self-employment opportunities, contributing to economic growth at local and national levels.

The camp activities are being coordinated by Dr. Pankaj Bharti, Associate Professor, EDII. As Dr. Pankaj says, “Through this camp, students are gaining hands-on learning and skills such as creativity, problem solving, leadership, design thinking and goal setting skills. I am sure these skills and learning will build a successful path for them.” Field visits, practical workshops, and group discussions simulate real-world entrepreneurial challenges, giving students an edge in understanding market dynamics and business operations.
