FADA Vyapar Gujarat Sparks Pride in Auto Growth

The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) today successfully concluded the latest edition of FADA Vyapar in Gujarat. Centred around the theme “Viksit Gujarat Ki Raftaar,” the event aligned with the state’s vision of “Viksit Gujarat @2047,” highlighting the auto retail sector’s role in driving economic growth and local employment.

The auto retail sector has emerged as one of the largest employment generators in India, especially at the grassroots level. In states like Gujarat, dealerships support not only sales but also service, finance, insurance, logistics and after-sales operations, creating jobs for skilled and semi-skilled youth. Events like Vyapar Gujarat provide a platform where dealers can understand policy changes, market trends and financial planning in a rapidly changing mobility landscape.

The conclave was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Shri Rajesh R. Gandhi, Senior Vice President of the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), alongside Shri Govind Sinha, Deputy General Manager, State Bank of India, Ahmedabad, who served as the Guest of Honour. They were joined by senior FADA leadership, including Mr C. S. Vigneshwar, President, FADA; Mr Pranav Shah, Chairperson, FADA Gujarat; and Mr Amar J. Sheth, Secretary, FADA.

GCCI has long played a key role in supporting Gujarat’s trade and industry ecosystem, while banks such as the State Bank of India remain critical partners for automobile dealers by providing working capital, vehicle loans and credit support. Their presence reflected the strong link between commerce, finance and the automobile sector, which together contribute significantly to the state’s economy.

In his message read out to the delegates during the inaugural session, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Harsh Sanghavi, stated: “FADA’s journey since 1964 and its role as the apex body of India’s automobile retail industry is truly commendable…” His message highlighted how dealerships help translate government policies into real action on the ground, whether through the adoption of cleaner vehicles, compliance with regulations or the creation of local jobs.

The focus on sustainability and green mobility is especially relevant as Gujarat continues to see rising adoption of electric vehicles and hybrid technologies. The state’s strong infrastructure, investor-friendly policies and growing charging network have made it one of the early leaders in India’s EV transition, with dealers playing a vital role in educating customers and supporting this shift.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr C. S. Vigneshwar, President, FADA, said, “Gujarat has always been synonymous with enterprise and excellence…” He highlighted Gujarat’s rapid acceptance of new mobility solutions and stressed FADA’s role as a bridge between policy intent and business reality. His reference to the Compensation Cess issue reflects a long-standing concern among dealers, as financial pressures and regulatory costs directly affect dealership viability.

The mention of the FADA Academy underlined the sector’s focus on skill development. With vehicles becoming more technology-driven, dealerships now require trained manpower in diagnostics, electric drivetrains, digital sales tools and customer management. Structured training initiatives help dealerships stay competitive and future-ready.

He further added that since 1964, FADA has worked closely with the Government, original equipment manufacturers and dealers to promote transparency, fair practices and inclusivity. Initiatives like Women in FADA (WIF) and GenX have encouraged participation of women and younger entrepreneurs, reflecting changing demographics within the auto retail sector.

The day featured a series of high-impact knowledge sessions designed to enhance dealership viability and operational efficiency. Financial Prudence sessions highlighted the importance of cash flow management and cost control, especially at a time when market cycles and interest rates can impact dealer margins. Vehicle registration sessions addressed practical challenges faced by dealers, helping them stay compliant with evolving transport rules.

GST and compliance discussions helped simplify complex tax issues that often trouble small and medium-sized dealerships. Leadership and management lessons drawn from military experiences offered a unique perspective on resilience, discipline and strategic thinking, qualities increasingly needed in a competitive business environment.

Industry innovation sessions on High-Security Registration Plates and vehicle exchange platforms reflected how technology is reshaping operations. Digital tools are improving transparency, reducing fraud and enhancing customer convenience, while organised exchange platforms are creating better value for used vehicles.

The event concluded with a felicitation of partners and special recognition of Mr Surendra Sharma, Managing Director of Sharma Cars Pvt Ltd. Recognising long-standing contributors helps motivate the dealer community and celebrates entrepreneurship built over decades. With participation from more than 250 dealers and stakeholders, the conclave reinforced FADA Vyapar Gujarat as a strong platform for dialogue, learning and collaboration, setting a confident pace for Gujarat’s mobility-driven growth journey.
