Greenply Brings New Energy to Gujarat’s MDF Industry
A New Era Begins As Greenply Expands Production to Meet Rising MDF Demand
Greenply Speciality Panels Private Limited Breaks Ground for Second MDF Line at Vadodara Plant
Wholly owned subsidiary of Greenply Industries to invest ₹425 crore to expand capacity and meet rising MDF demand in India.
Greenply Speciality Panels Private Limited, wholly owned subsidiary of Greenply Industries Ltd. one of India’s leading interior infrastructure companies, today announced the groundbreaking of its second Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) production line at its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Vadodara, Gujarat. The expansion marks a significant step in the company’s growth journey, reinforcing its commitment to strengthening domestic manufacturing and addressing the rapidly growing demand for MDF across India.
India’s MDF market has seen strong growth in recent years. Experts say the market size jumped from about ₹3,000 crore in 2021 to around ₹6,000 crore by 2026. This boom comes from more homes, offices, and furniture needs. Greenply already leads with a big share in this space. The Vadodara plant first started MDF trials back in 2023 with 800 cubic metres per day. Now it runs at 1,000 cubic metres daily, up 25 per cent. This new line will add 600 to 700 cubic metres more, pushing total output higher to meet the rush.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Mr Rajesh Mittal, Chairman & Managing Director and Mr Sanidhya Mittal, Joint Managing Director, along with over thirty-five dealers and channel partners from across the region who joined the leadership team to commemorate this important milestone.
These dealers form a key part of Greenply’s strong network in Gujarat. The company lists 44 shops across the state, many in Vadodara and Ahmedabad. Local spots like Shilp Nirman Services in Alkapuri and New Rachna Plywood on Old Padra Road serve builders and homeowners daily. Such partners help spread Greenply products fast. They attended to show support for this big move, which builds on the firm’s ties with the trade.
The second MDF line at the Vadodara facility represents an investment of ₹425 crore and is expected to become operational by Q2 FY2028. The expansion is set to generate substantial employment opportunities across the value chain, supporting livelihoods and contributing to regional economic growth.
This fits Gujarat’s push for jobs and factories. The state eyes big growth as India aims for a $10 trillion economy. Leaders there focus on plants like this to create work in areas from factory floors to supply chains. Greenply’s plan matches this, adding roles in skilled labour, logistics, and sales. Vadodara already hosts many such units, drawing more with good roads and power supply.
Once commissioned, the new line will significantly enhance the company’s production capacity, enabling Greenply to better serve rising market demand while further strengthening its leadership position in the MDF category.
Greenply holds about 30 per cent market share now. With this add-on, it aims to grow even more. The MDF side already brings in strong sales, with volumes up 14.5 per cent in recent quarters. Plywood also grew 12.5 per cent. This line targets homes, shops, and ready-made furniture, where MDF shines for its smooth finish and low cost.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rajesh Mittal, Chairman & Managing Director, Greenply Industries Ltd., said, “The groundbreaking of our second MDF line at Vadodara reflects Greenply’s continued commitment to strengthening India’s manufacturing capabilities and supporting the evolving needs of the interior infrastructure sector. As demand for MDF products continues to grow across residential, commercial, and modular furniture segments, this expansion will enable us to scale our operations while maintaining our strong focus on efficiency, quality, and long-term value creation for our partners and customers.”
Mr Mittal’s words echo the firm’s big plans. Greenply set aside ₹800 crore for growth over three years. This includes plywood, too, to reclaim top spots. Shareholders backed his role with 97.8 per cent votes, showing trust in his lead. The family team, with Sanidhya Mittal, drives steady progress amid market ups.
With this expansion, Greenply continues to strengthen its manufacturing footprint through strategic investments that enhance operational capabilities and future readiness. The Vadodara expansion aligns with the company’s long-term vision of building advanced manufacturing infrastructure and strengthening its MDF product portfolio.
The site in Sherpura village suits well, near Halol road for easy transport. Gujarat’s drive for local making helps firms like Greenply cut imports and use local wood sources. MDF demand rises with urban homes and e-shops selling flat-pack furniture. Greenply’s move sets it up for years ahead, backing India’s build-big goals.
This step shows how one firm helps a state and nation grow. From jobs to better products, it touches many lives. Watch for more wins from Vadodara soon.
