Actor Gufi Paintal passed away on Monday at a hospital in this city from age-related difficulties, according to his nephew Hiten Paintal. Paintal was most known for his role as Shakuni’s mother in the acclaimed TV series Mahabharat.
He was 79. At a hospital in the suburban area of Andheri, the seasoned actor was admitted.
Sadly, he is no longer with us. At around nine in the morning, he died at the hospital. His heart surrendered. In his slumber, he died gently, Hiten told PTI.
Hiten previously revealed to PTI that his uncle was suffering from age-related health problems and was not doing well.
“He had heart and blood pressure problems. He continued to feel ill while all of this was happening. Now that the situation was critical, we took him to the hospital for observation. He has spent seven to eight days in the hospital. He was initially critical, but he is now stable,” Hiten had previously told PTI.
Gufi Paintal’s manipulative uncle’s performance as Shakuni’s mom in BR Chopra’s “Mahabharat” established him as a household figure. His acting credits also include 1980s Hindi films like Suhaag and Dillagi, as well as the television series CID and Hello Inspector.
His son, daughter-in-law, and grandchild all survived him. At a crematorium in the suburban Andheri area, the final rites will be performed today at around 4 o’clock.
