With the resolve to protect the happiness, safety, prosperity, and constitutional rights of the people of Gujarat, all followers of the Congress ideology became committed.
The taking over ceremony of the newly appointed President of the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee, Shri Amitbhai Chavda, was completed at Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan with a huge gathering of thousands of workers. The newly appointed President, Shri Amitbhai Chavda, first visited the city goddess Bhadrakali Mata in Ahmedabad and prayed for the well-being of the people of Gujarat and received blessings. Thereafter, a convoy of Congress workers, along with the newly appointed President, in the form of a rally, offered a garland to the statue of Shri Indulal Yagnik (Induchacha), the pioneer of the Mahagujarat movement, and after offering a bouquet to the statue of Swami Vivekananda at Town Hall, they were present at the taking over ceremony at Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan.
Shri Mukul Wasnikji, senior general secretary of the All India Congress Committee and in-charge of the Gujarat organisation, while addressing a large number of workers present at the taking over ceremony of the newly appointed state president, said that the responsibility for election results is not only of the president. It is the responsibility of every worker, in-charge, and office-bearer. The crown of the state president is not studded with diamonds and pearls but is full of responsibilities. The state president has to face the trust of the workers and many challenges. Therefore, everyone has to prepare to contest the upcoming local body elections. Those who have contested assembly or Lok Sabha elections and are not strong otherwise, those candidates will also have to show readiness to contest. The Congress party will contest the upcoming elections with full vigour and enthusiasm.

The newly appointed state president, Shri Amitbhai Chavda, while accepting the greetings amidst a huge crowd of thousands of workers, stated that they would free Gujarat and Gujaratis from the rule of fear, hunger, and corruption. They would abolish the fixed pay, contract system, and outsourcing system and provide the right to equal pay for equal work. They would free the state from the clutches of land mafias, mining mafias, education mafias, medical mafias, and goons. They would free the state from corruption and corrupt individuals. They would cancel wrong land measurements and provide justice to farmers. They would free small traders and shopkeepers from officer raj and GST hassles. They would ensure social justice and participation in governance and resources for SC, ST, OBC, minorities, and EWS. They would provide water, forest, and land rights to tribal families in Gujarat. They would ensure minimum wages by providing their rights to labourers and workers. Employment rights for youth would be ensured through permanent recruitment in vacant government positions. They would ensure security, respect, and participation for women in the state. They would free Gujarat from malnutrition. They would protect the constitutional rights and identity of Gujaratis. They would expose corruption in cooperative dairies and banks and provide justice to livestock owners. Thus, on the day of taking over, all Congress party workers and leaders resolved for the bright future of the people of Gujarat.
Addressing the taking over ceremony in the presence of workers, leaders, and representatives from various communities from all over the state, the newly appointed President Shri Amit Chavda said that it is a time of struggle and that with everyone’s cooperation, they will face the challenges together. He appealed for everyone’s cooperation to fight against the current rule in Gujarat. In the coming time, they will collectively fight for the justice and rights of Gujarat and Gujaratis, from Parliament to the streets. The President’s crown is thorny, but he will kiss these thorns, and they will all remain together in the leadership struggle. He expressed his gratitude to all the leaders, including our Congress party leaders Smt. Soniaji, Congress President Shri Mallikarjun Khargeji, public leader and justice warrior Rahulji, for trusting him and once again entrusting him with the responsibility as state president. He added that they will all fight together to fulfil the trust placed by the leadership.
Addressing the workers at the taking over ceremony of the newly appointed State President of the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee, Shri Amitbhai Chavda, the outgoing State President, MP Shri Shaktisinh Gohil, said that a Congress worker never gets upset. He appealed to the Congress workers to talk about the Congress’s hand, not caste. Shri Shaktisinh Gohil expressed his desire to work among the workers instead of sitting on the stage. Attacking the BJP, he said it was good that the BJP government had not built dams; otherwise, they would have broken down like the bridges and roads they built. The dams built during the Congress rule in Saurashtra, North Gujarat, and South Gujarat stand firm; not even a pebble has fallen, while the canals built by the BJP have broken, which is the sin of corruption at Kamalam.
The newly appointed Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, Dr. Tushar Chaudhary, stated that his colleagues in the Legislative Assembly, who have years of experience, along with newly elected MLAs for the first time, will strongly present the issues of the people. Everyone will be given a chance, but at the same time, they are limited in number. On the other side, there is a majority, but it is an arrogant army, so they are Pandavas, and on the other side is the unjust army of Kauravas. They will fight strongly and present the voice of Gujarat.
Senior AICC leader Shri Madhusudan Mistry, CWC member Shri Jagdish Thakor, former president Shri Siddharth Patel, National President of Seva Dal Shri Lalji Desai, former leader of the Congress party in the Legislative Assembly Shri Paresh Dhanani, Deputy Leader of the Congress party in the Legislative Assembly Shri Shailesh Parmar, Working Presidents of the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee Shri Indravijaysinh Gohil, Shri Jignesh Mevani, Shri Kadir Pirzada, Shri Lalit Kagathara, former MLA Shri Punjabhai Vansh, Lok Sabha MP Smt.
