The Goodwill Delegation led by Indo-Japan Friendship Association (IJFA), Gujarat & the Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA) participated with great enthusiasm at the India-Hamamatsu Festival organised by Suzuki Motor Corporation. The Governor of Shizuoka Mr. Yasutomo Suzuki, and the Mayor of Hamamatsu Mr. Yusuke Nakano, accorded a warm reception to the Delegation by hosting Luncheon & Dinner Receptions, which were attended by leaders of business, industry & profession and eminent personalities from art, culture and education.
Gujarati Garba & Raas Win the Hearts of Japanese
The lady delegates from Gujarat presented Vibrant Performances of Gujarati Garba & Raas at the opening ceremony of the Cultural Festival, which not only won admiration of the Japanese community, but also enthused them to join the dances on the streets of Hamamatsu with zeal and fervour. The President of Suzuki Motors Corporation Mr. Toshihiro Suzuk,i warmly welcomed the Delegation.
Strengthening Relations between Gujarat and Japan
The Honorary Consul of Japan in Gujarat Mr. Mukesh Patel, and the President of Ahmedabad Management Association hosted an Evening Get-together with the theme “Kem Chhe – Konnichiwa: Bridging Cultures, Connecting Hearts,” to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the Indo-Japan Friendship Association of Gujarat and commemorate the Sister State Relationships between Shizuoka and Gujarat & Sister City twinning between Hamamatsu & Ahmedabad.
Former Ambassador of Japan to India Mr. Hideaki Domichi, also addressed the gathering. He praised Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s far-sighted vision and his continuous efforts to promote Indo-Japanese relations since 2007. Ms. Mamta Verma, Principal Secretary Industries, Government of Gujarat, invited the participation of Japanese Entrepreneurs at the Regional Vibrant Gujarat Conferences to be held in 2025-26.
Kite, Music and Matcha Food Festival in January 2026
In response to the Invitation by Mr. Mukesh Patel, both the Mayor and Governor happily announced acceptance of the same and agreed to actively participate in the Mega Japan Festival in January 2026. The City of Hamamatsuenjoys the fame as the City of Kites & Music. Mayor Nakano agreed to lead a delegation to Ahmedabad to celebrate both a Kite and Music Festival around Uttarayan. Governor Suzuki also responded positively to join the Matcha (Green Tea) Food Festival, and also participated in the Seminar for Economic Cooperation with a Special focus on Small and Medium Enterprises.
