International Conference on Yoga and Sanskrit for Global Well-being at Lakulish Yoga University
At Lakulish Yoga University in Ahmedabad, an incredible two-day international conference with the theme “Indian Knowledge Systems of Yoga and Sanskrit for Global Well-being” got underway today. Gujarat Sahitya Academy, Sri Swaminarayan Research Center-Vadtal Dham, and Lakulish Yoga University are collaborating to organize this thought-provoking event, which is set for January 9–10, 2025. It is available to a larger audience because participants can sign up both in person and online.
The vice chancellor of Lakulish Yoga University, Mr. Vivek Maheshwari, emphasized the modern-day globalization of yoga during the opening session. According to him, the conference’s goal is to give students, instructors, and everyone else with a keen interest in yoga and Sanskrit-based Indian knowledge systems a basic understanding of these subjects. The new National Education Policy (2020), which highlights the value of traditional Indian knowledge, is in line with this goal.
The goals of the conference were explained in detail by Dr. Nehal Dave, the chief organizer and chairman of the India Knowledge System (IKS) Department at Lakulish Yoga University. He emphasized that yoga is more than just breathing exercises (Pranayama) and physical postures (Asanas). It is pertinent to the present world since it covers a variety of facets of everyday living. He announced that more than 50 research articles would be discussed, including how yoga may help us deal with the problems caused by artificial intelligence, its psychological advantages, and its function in stress management.
Dr. Dave further underlined how important Gujarat Sahitya Academy is to the advancement of Sanskrit and the Indian educational system. According to him, the Academy would demonstrate how to combine AI with Sanskrit to make modern living easier. The value of Sanskrit in conserving and passing on Indian knowledge to future generations will be covered in a number of scholarly studies. Accessing this extensive amount of knowledge requires a mastery of Sanskrit, as many ancient Indian texts are written in this language.
More than 350 educators, researchers, and students from all over India have attended the conference, while more than 50 people from other countries have joined virtually. The event will be a melting pot of ideas and information as this diverse group shares thoughts and participates in stimulating discussions.
