Hyundai Motor India announced on Tuesday that it has partnered with Tata Power to install fast-charging electric car infrastructure at a number of its stores across India.

Through the Hyundai and Tata Power EZ Charge Mobile App, 60 kW DC charging stations will be deployed at the company’s 34 EV dealerships in 29 locations to cater to all types of electric vehicles.

In a statement, Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) MD & CEO Unsoo Kim said, “The company is pleased to announce its partnership with Tata Power to facilitate and strengthen India’s robust EV ecosystem and enhance the general outlook on sustainable transportation, reaffirming Hyundai’s vision to integrate social responsibility with economic prosperity and community wellness.”

Such strategic alliances are critical in speeding customer adoption of electric vehicles in order to meet the country’s carbon neutrality objective, he noted.

“This agreement will accelerate the nation’s electric mobility mission by providing end-to-end EV charging infrastructure at corporate dealerships, as well as supply, installation, and commissioning of home charging for HMIL EV consumers,” Kim said.

Hyundai EV owners will benefit from special prices and end-to-end home charging solutions, from supply to installation, as part of the partnership.

In the country, the automaker sells Kona Electric. This year’s festival season will see the debut of IONIQ 5.

The company has already committed to investing Rs 4,000 crore to expand its battery electric vehicle (BEV) line-up in the country to six models by 2028.

By 2028, the business has committed to invest Rs 4,000 crore in India to extend its battery electric vehicle (BEV) lineup to six models.

“Our collaboration with Hyundai Motor India is in line with the Government of India’s National Electric Mobility Mission Plan, demonstrating our commitment to driving India’s clean energy and net-zero ambitions,” said Praveer Sinha, MD, and CEO of Tata Power.

He noted that the company’s expertise in the EV charging arena, as well as complete charging solutions and nationwide ownership of Hyundai vehicles, will aid in the development of sustainable transportation infrastructure, resulting in speedier EV adoption.

Hyundai will provide space and essential administrative approvals through its dealerships, while Tata Power will operate and maintain the charging stations.
