IIC Regional Meet Ignites Innovation at EDII Ahmedabad

The Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad, will host the Central Regional Meet 2025 of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), under the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, on 25 November 2025. The meet is being organised with the help of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The aim is to build and strengthen a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among students and higher-education institutions.
EDII itself is a well-known institute set up in 1983 in Gujarat, dedicated to teaching, training and research in entrepreneurship. It works with many financial and government bodies, and supports start-ups and small businesses. Meanwhile, the IIC programme under the MoE and AICTE is aimed at creating a network of councils in many colleges and universities so that students learn to generate ideas, develop them into prototypes and possibly start new ventures.
The Central Regional Meet is part of a large series: 26 IIC Regional Meets across India, held in three phases. The Ahmedabad meet will bring together more than 600 participants from over 100 institutions. These will include IIC coordinators, faculty members, student innovators and startup teams. The scale of participation indicates the importance attached to regional networking and peer learning.
On the day, the event will be graced by key dignitaries: Trikambhai Chhanga, Hon’ble Minister of State for Higher & Technical Education, Government of Gujarat, will act as Chief Guest. And B.H. Talati, Director of Technical Education, Government of Gujarat, will join as a Special Guest. Their presence signals support from the state government for innovation and entrepreneurship in higher education.
This year’s meet aims to provide a strong platform for peer learning, collaboration and knowledge exchange among higher education institutions. In addition to technical talks, the meet will showcase over 50 product demonstrations featuring “YUKTI” innovations and budding start-ups. A special ‘Swadesh Udyami – Bazar’ aligned with the “Vocal for Local” vision will highlight more than 15 home-grown entrepreneurial ventures. This shows how the event links big policy ideas (innovation, start-ups, local entrepreneurship) with hands-on activity and demonstration.
The one-day meet will feature three focused technical interactions:
Knowledge-Sharing Sessions led by IIC institutions.
Training of Trainers (ToT) for Innovation Ambassadors.
Masterclasses by ecosystem enablers for YUKTI innovators.
These varied formats mean participants can gain new ideas, be trained, and also hear from experienced mentors.
The regional meet is also a key stage for over 3,500 innovators and start-up teams who have been shortlisted for the next round of the YUKTI Innovation Challenge (YIC) 2025 and the AICTE Productisation Fellowship (APF) 2025. At this meet, they will demonstrate prototypes, get mentoring, and take part in pitching rounds. Advancement to incubation and further AICTE-funded support depends on how well teams perform. This underlines the practical, competitive nature of the event, not just talk.
At the end of the event, outstanding innovators will be felicitated, and IIC institutions will be acknowledged for their contribution to strengthening the innovation ecosystem. Roll-up standees and posters will display institutional achievements. The programme also recognises exceptional Innovation Ambassadors (Regional) for their leadership in promoting innovation on campuses. This recognition element encourages continued effort and highlights role models.
Taken together, the event reflects how higher education in India is moving beyond classroom teaching to focus on innovation, start-ups and ecosystem building. EDII’s role as host anchors Gujarat as a regional innovation hub, and the IIC-MoE-AICTE link shows national-level commitment. Participants gain exposure, mentoring, networking and possible funding—all crucial to turning ideas into ventures.
For EDII, hosting this meet aligns with its mission of entrepreneurship education, training and institution building. Their track record includes many programmes, research, incubation and partnership with government schemes. For IIC, the meet is a way to connect many institutions in one region, share best practices, build momentum and advance India’s innovation agenda.
On 25 November 2025, EDII’s Ahmedabad campus will become a lively hub of innovation energy—hundreds of students, faculty and start-up minds will gather, prototypes will be demonstrated, local entrepreneurial ventures showcased, and a strong message sent: innovation and entrepreneurship are key to the future of higher education and the economy.
