On Monday (March 14), Team India smashed Sri Lanka by 238 runs in the Pink Ball Test at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, completing yet another series whitewash. Since losing to England in December 2012, India has won 15 straight series at home under skipper Rohit Sharma.

India is the only team in the world to have done so, with 10 consecutive series triumphs coming in second – well behind India’s 15.

team In the 2021-22 home season, India had a victory percentage of 93.7 across all forms. In an International home season, just one team has a higher win percentage (minimum 15 matches). In the 2000-01 home season, Australia went undefeated, winning all 15 of their matches.

India’s 16 matches are also the second-highest by a team in a home season in which they went undefeated. In the 2009-10 home season, Australia played 19 games, winning 17 of them.

After India declared on 303/9, the tourists faced a difficult total of 447 to win, with their skipper Dimuth Karunaratne battling hard to get his 14th Test tonne (107) but wickets dropped regularly and they were bowled out for 208.

In Mohali, India won the first Test by an innings and 222 runs in three days, and Rohit Sharma’s team repeated the same in Bengaluru, bowling Sri Lanka out in the second session.

“It’s been a fantastic run, both personally and as a team.” “As a team, we wanted to accomplish a few things, and we were able to do so,” Rohit said. “Pink ball tests are difficult. We’ve never experienced what it’s like to play with a pink ball in India, but we’re learning to adapt. It’s even more special because of the crowd.

In the first session, Karunaratne and Kusal Mendis chipped away, and the pair escaped a couple of edges to put up Sri Lanka’s highest partnership of the series (97), while Mendis also reached his half-century.
