From Nomination to Innovation: KFS Ghatlodia Uses KFSG-DigiVote, a Digital Voting System, to Conduct Student Council Elections
Kalorex Future School, Ghatlodia, successfully held its Student Council Elections 2025–26 using its in-house online voting platform, KFSG-DigiVote, in a groundbreaking move towards digital democracy. The election process was intended to be organised, inclusive, and student-driven from the first statement of interest to candidate engagement and participation. The project prioritised ethical behaviour, future-focused thinking, and active participation, with a particular emphasis on digital innovation and democratic principles. Through the election, kids were able to participate in a genuine democratic process and develop critical abilities such as decision-making, confident speaking, and technological use.
During the self-nomination phase of the elections, eager students used Google Forms to submit their names and creative project ideas that they promised to carry out if elected. A set of interviews was then conducted to evaluate each applicant’s intent and leadership capabilities. Six leadership categories, including Head Boy, Head Girl, Vice Head Boy, Vice Head Girl, Sports Captain, and Sports Vice Captain, had a total of 16 shortlisted applicants.
During a four-day election campaign, candidates engaged with staff and student voters, presenting their agendas and demonstrating their leadership skills in an effort to raise awareness and encourage participation. Throughout the school, the campaign generated excitement and gained traction.
KFSG-DigiVote, a browser-based, paperless Student Voting System (SVS) created in-house by the Election Technical Team, was used to conduct the vote on June 23, 2025. A transparent, effective, and environmentally friendly election process was made possible by the system’s category-wise voting, real-time vote storage, quick vote confirmation, and secure, password-protected access. Its entirely digital format strengthened the school’s dedication to sustainability by improving the e-voting experience and drastically lowering the demand for paper.
The event demonstrated a successful mix of responsible technology use and participatory leadership, as seen by the impressive 94% voter turnout from students, teachers, administrative staff, and support staff.
As it gets ready to welcome a freshly elected student council prepared to lead with vision, purpose, and innovation in this VUCA world, Kalorex Future School in Ghatlodia is currently awaiting the results announcement.
