‘Leave The Door Open’ by Silk Sonic wins ‘Song Of The Year’ at the Grammys 2022.

The Grammys are currently being broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, with ‘Leave The Door Open’ by R&B super combo Silk Sonic, which includes Bruno Mars and rapper Anderson Paak.

As they took the stage, Bruno Mars, Anderson Paak, and Dernst “D’Mile” Emile II accepted the trophy. Silk Sonic made their Grammys debut in 2021 with a performance of ‘Leave The Door Open.’

The song beat out ‘Drivers License’ (Olivia Rodrigo), ‘Bad Habits’ (Ed Sheeran), ‘Happier Than Ever’ (Billie Eilish), ‘Peaches’ (Justin Bieber), ‘Call Me by Your Name’ (Lil Nas X), and ‘Kiss Me More’ for the title of ‘Song Of The Year’ (Doja Cat). DeMille, who wrote last year’s winner, H.E.R.’s ‘I Can’t Breathe,’ has become the first individual to win ‘Song Of The Year’ two years in a row.

The prize was given to the songwriter’s mother, who died just a few days ago.

Meanwhile, Jon Batiste, a musician from New Orleans, won four Grammy Awards at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards after being nominated in 11 categories.

Jon earned ‘Best American Roots Performance’ and ‘American Roots Song’ for his song ‘Cry,’ as well as ‘Best Music Video’ for his song ‘Freedom,’ which is a New Orleans tribute. He and Carlos Rafael Rivera also split the award for ‘Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media,’ for writing and arranging portions of the music in the Pixar film ‘Soul.’

The Grammy Awards 2022 began on Sunday night in Las Vegas’ glitzy nightlife. The opening notes of music’s biggest night of the year are tinged with anticipation following an explosively divisive Oscar ceremony.
