Narayan Seva Sansthan to Hold Free Disability Screening and Artificial Limb Measurement Camp in Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad will host a large free disability support camp on 26 July 2026, where people with physical disabilities can be screened for corrective surgery and measured for advanced 3D-printed artificial limbs. The programme is being organised by Narayan Seva Sansthan (NSS) in partnership with its corporate social responsibility (CSR) partner Ingersoll Rand.
The camp will focus on two services. Medical experts will examine people who may qualify for free corrective surgeries, while technicians will take measurements for Japanese and German technology-based 3D-printed Narayan Modular Artificial Limbs. According to the organisers, these prosthetic limbs are designed to improve movement and help people carry out everyday activities more independently.
The Ahmedabad programme forms part of a wider national campaign by the Udaipur-based charitable organisation, which has spent several decades providing medical care, rehabilitation and prosthetic support to people with disabilities in India and other countries.
During a press conference announcing the event, Bhagwan Prasad Gaur, Head of Media and Public Relations at Narayan Seva Sansthan, said the organisation works to support people who have lost their hands or legs because of accidents, illness or other causes. He said the institution was inspired by its founder, Padma Shri awardee Kailash “Manav”, and has continued its humanitarian work for more than 40 years.
Gaur explained that the Ahmedabad camp has been planned so that people living in the city and nearby districts can access disability assessments closer to home instead of travelling long distances for an initial examination. He added that the programme would include both selection for free corrective surgery and measurements for modular artificial limbs.

At the media briefing, Bhagwan Prasad Gaur and Kailash Choudhary, Ashram In-charge of Narayan Seva Sansthan Ahmedabad, officially unveiled the poster for the camp.
People whose measurements are recorded during the event are expected to receive their customised modular artificial limbs without charge at a follow-up camp around two months later. Those selected for corrective surgery will undergo treatment at Narayan Seva Sansthan’s specialised hospital in Udaipur.
Access to rehabilitation services remains a challenge for many people with disabilities, especially in rural and low-income communities. According to government data and disability organisations, the cost of prosthetic limbs, repeated medical visits and rehabilitation can place a heavy financial burden on families. Charitable programmes and CSR-supported healthcare initiatives often help bridge gaps where specialist treatment is not easily available.
India’s Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, strengthened legal protections for people with disabilities and expanded recognised disability categories from seven to twenty-one. The law also encourages greater access to healthcare, education, employment and rehabilitation services. Organisations working alongside government programmes continue to play an important role in improving access to assistive devices and specialised medical care.
Narayan Seva Sansthan has organised similar disability camps in several Indian cities. Previous camps have been held in Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Agra, where eligible participants received disability screening, referrals for corrective surgery and prosthetic support. Following the Ahmedabad programme, the organisation plans to conduct another camp in Ballari, Karnataka, in August.
The organisation says it has provided more than 40,200 free artificial limbs to people with disabilities in India and abroad. It also reports that more than 454,081 people with disabilities have received free medical treatment through its programmes. These services include corrective surgeries, physiotherapy, rehabilitation and other forms of medical assistance.
Narayan Seva Sansthan was founded in Udaipur, Rajasthan, and has expanded its work through hospitals, rehabilitation centres, education initiatives and skill development programmes for people with disabilities. The organisation states that its work includes prosthetic limb fitting, mobility support, vocational training and assistance aimed at helping beneficiaries become more independent.
Its founder, Kailash Manav Agarwal, received the Padma Shri in 2008 from then President Pratibha Patil for his contribution to social service. More recently, in 2023, President Droupadi Murmu presented the National Award to Narayan Seva Sansthan President Prashant Agarwal for work related to the empowerment of persons with disabilities.
The Ahmedabad camp reflects ongoing efforts by charitable organisations and private-sector partners to improve access to rehabilitation services through community-based programmes. For many participants, the initial screening may become the first step towards surgery, a customised artificial limb or improved mobility, offering greater opportunities for education, employment and independent living while reducing the financial burden of treatment.
