Newzdaddy Political Updates

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s rumoured exit from the INDIA bloc has stirred discussions within the political circles, with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressing a rather dismissive view. Sources close to Mamata revealed that she sees Nitish’s departure as a positive development for the Opposition alliance, attributing it to the perceived anti-incumbency challenges faced by Nitish Kumar’s government.

Mamata’s View on Nitish’s Exit

According to sources, Mamata Banerjee believes that Nitish Kumar’s departure would be a “good riddance” for the Opposition alliance. The Bengal Chief Minister apparently feels that the anti-incumbency sentiments towards Nitish’s leadership could have been detrimental to the alliance’s electoral prospects.

The insights into Mamata’s perspective were gleaned from an informal gathering at Raj Bhavan, where she attended a meet-and-greet session hosted by Governor C.V. Ananda Bose on Republic Day. Notably, while CPM veteran Biman Bose attended the event, representatives from the BJP and Congress were absent.

Mamata’s Assessment of the Situation

Mamata Banerjee reportedly remarked that the RJDCongress alliance wouldn’t suffer significantly if Nitish were to leave. She even suggested that their electoral performance could have been limited if they had contested together with JDU. This reflects Mamata’s longstanding doubts about Nitish’s commitment to the Opposition bloc.

Origins of INDIA Grouping

Ironically, the formation of the INDIA grouping, of which Nitish Kumar is a part, traces back to a meeting between Mamata Banerjee and Nitish. However, sources close to Mamata claim that she had reservations about Nitish’s role from the beginning, opposing his appointment as convener due to suspicions of BJP’s plans to co-opt him back into the NDA.

Regardless of Nitish Kumar’s potential moves, Mamata Banerjee emphasized her commitment to fighting against the BJP. While she did not directly address the possibility of Nitish benefiting the BJP, she underscored her unwavering stance against the ruling party.

Shifting the focus to Bengal, Mamata Banerjee expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of transparency regarding the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’s schedule in the state. She hinted at strained relations with the Congress, one of the INDIA constituents, and revealed her unawareness of the Yatra’s Bengal schedule.

Mamata’s Interaction with Rahul Gandhi

Regarding a potential face-off with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during the Yatra, Mamata reportedly joked about offering tea. However, her tone turned icy when asked about seat-sharing with the Congress in Bengal, blaming the Congress for rejecting a proposed alliance.

Mamata Banerjee reiterated her party’s decision to go solo in Bengal, emphasizing that they had initially offered two seats to the Congress. She squarely put the responsibility on the Congress for the alliance not working in Bengal.

Despite potential clashes between Trinamul and the Congress in Bengal, Mamata assured that it wouldn’t destabilize the overall balance in the INDIA bloc. She drew parallels with the AAP-Congress dynamics in Delhi and Punjab, suggesting that like-minded parties could unite after elections to prevent a BJP-led government at the national level.

Speculations on Nitish’s Next Move

Palturam” will again take a U-Turn?  With speculations about Nitish Kumar rejoining the BJP-led NDA gaining traction, the future of the INDIA bloc became a focal point of discussions at the Raj Bhavan gathering. Journalists seized the opportunity to question Mamata about the potential impact of Nitish’s departure on the alliance.

Palturam, the name given by Nitish’s peers is turning out to be true.  There is strong speculation that he is going to rejoin the BJP-led NDA. The question may arise why?

Why Nitish is again joining NDA?

Why he is leaving RJD and Lalu Yadav?

Why he is betraying the INDIA bloc which he created?

All these questions are raised in the politicians and people of Bihar.  The next 48 hours are going to be very crucial for the people of Bihar and for the next upcoming Lok Sabha Election.

Currently, all these are speculations and nothing has been confirmed from any side or any political party.  We just have to wait and watch the political drama created by none other than “Palturam” (Nitish Kumar).

In conclusion, Mamata Banerjee’s perspective on Nitish Kumar’s possible exit from the INDIA bloc sheds light on the intricate dynamics within the Opposition alliance. As the political landscape evolves, Mamata’s unwavering commitment to combating the BJP remains a central theme in her political narrative.
