Ponniyin Selvan: 1 is director Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus, and since its release, images and videos of its star-studded cast, elaborate sets, and action-packed scenes have gone viral on social media.
The makers have now released another intriguing announcement after the magnificent teaser elicited thrilling responses from online users. The actors playing the two main characters in the movie, Sarathkumar and Parthiban Radhakrishna, debuted their first images via Lyca Productions.
Both Sarathkumar and Parthiban were seen in the brief first-look promo sporting armor and having long grey hair. They both wore gloomy expressions. The phrase “The Cholas are coming” was written in bold letters in the promo’s text layout.
It is clear from the brief clip that Sarathkumar and Prathiban play the film’s titular characters. Parthiban, aka Chinna Pazhuvettarayar, will play Sarathkumar’s fictional brother in the film while Sarathkumar’s Periya Pazhuvettarayar plays the role of Aishwarya’s on-screen husband.
Additionally, it has been reported that the movie’s trailer and debut soundtrack will both be available on September 6.
The 1995 book of the same name by renowned author Kalki Krishnamurthy served as the inspiration for Ponniyin Selvan. Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and South superstars Chiyyan Vikram, Karthi, Shobhita Dhulipala, and Trisha Krishnan are among the stellar cast members.
The task of composing the music for the movie has been given to renowned composer AR Rahman. On September 30 this year, the Tamil, Telegu, and Hindi versions of the period drama’s first installment will debut in theatres.
On social media earlier, some behind-the-scenes images of the movie’s production were widely shared. The images showed the cast and crew having a great time while filming. The actors and director of photography Ravi Varman frequently posed for photographs. Aishwarya’s photo with the cinematographer in which the actress was dressed in a royal robe caught everyone’s attention.
