Personal Finance Workshop Empowers CRPF Heroes In Gandhinagar
Newz Daddy Defence Updates
The Ahmedabad branch of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) organised a workshop on Personal Finance for CRPF personnel at the CRPF Group Centre in Gandhinagar today. More than 150 officers participated in this workshop. Workshops like these are important because personal finance is not just about saving money but about making smart choices for the future. Many studies show that defence personnel, due to their demanding duty schedules, often find little time to focus on financial planning. Organising such workshops helps them secure their family’s future and manage retirement with confidence. In India, personal finance literacy is growing but still limited, so programs like this play a vital role.
CA Neerav Agarwal, Chairman of ICAI’s Ahmedabad Branch, said that a workshop on personal finance was organised for CRPF personnel today by ICAI’s Financial and Tax Literacy Directorate in collaboration with the CRPF’s Southern Zone. The ICAI has been running many initiatives on financial literacy. Their Financial and Tax Literacy Directorate is aimed at educating not just professionals but also the wider community, including students, homemakers, and defence personnel. Collaborations like this with CRPF help bridge the knowledge gap and create awareness on issues like savings, investments, and taxes. For CRPF personnel, who spend much of their lives in active service, such awareness is especially beneficial for long-term security. He further said that in the first session of this workshop, smart retirement planning for the nation’s defenders was discussed, and in the second session, Direct, Defend, Deter was discussed.
Retirement planning is a major topic for defence forces since they often retire earlier than civilians. Experts stress the importance of pensions, insurance, and investments to maintain financial stability post-retirement. The second session’s theme, “Direct, Defend, Deter,” is also symbolic—it mirrors the CRPF’s motto of protecting the nation and relates it to financial discipline. Directing money wisely, defending against unnecessary risks, and deterring financial mistakes are key takeaways that can help officers build strong financial security.
Apart from Ahmedabad Branch Chairman CA Neerav Agarwal, ICAI Central Council Member CA Purushottam Khandelwal, ICAI Ahmedabad Branch Secretary CA Sameer Chaudhary, Managing Committee Member CA Shikha Agarwal, CRPF Gandhinagar DIG Shri Dharmendrasingh Visen, RCWA President Smt. Kiran Singh, Visen, GC, CRPF, Gandhinagar DC/Secretary Shri S. P. Nandanwar, DC Shri Abhijit Kale, and AC/Joint Secretary Shri Jasvender Pratap Singh, etc., were present in this workshop.
The presence of senior ICAI members and CRPF officers highlights the seriousness of this initiative. ICAI leaders like CA Purushottam Khandelwal have long promoted financial awareness at both the professional and community levels. For CRPF, senior officers such as DIG Dharmendrasingh Visen play a crucial role in ensuring that their personnel are cared for beyond just their duties. The participation of RCWA (Retired Central Welfare Association) leaders also shows how retired personnel continue to emphasise financial safety for their communities.
This event reflects a larger trend in India where financial literacy programs are reaching different segments of society. Whether it is students, women, or defence personnel, the aim is to create an informed population capable of making strong financial choices. For the CRPF, which is one of India’s largest paramilitary forces, the welfare of its personnel is a top priority. Workshops like these ensure that the people who defend the nation are also empowered to defend their own financial future.
