DPS-Bopal, Ahmedabad Issues a Common Call for Sustainable Action in Honour of World Environment Day 2025
With a strong sense of community and passion, Delhi Public School-Bopal celebrated World Environment Day 2025 with the global theme of “Tackling Plastic Pollution and Driving Sustainable Change.” Students from all grade levels participated in the celebration, which used both practical acts and creative expression to emphasise the value of environmental responsibility.
Students in the Junior School were encouraged to embrace the role of Planet Protectors by forming significant, easy-to-follow behaviours that support a healthier planet. In addition to helping their families realise the value of proper waste disposal, many made the step to separate household waste using colour-coded bins for dry, wet, and recyclable materials. A number of students proudly posted pictures of their upcycled projects, demonstrating how trash can be turned into valuable goods.
Middle school students also showed their concern for the environment by using less water and electricity, watering plants with leftover water, and making sure fans and lights were turned off when not in use. An increased awareness of lowering one’s carbon footprint is reflected in the fact that some people even choose to walk small distances rather than drive.
The Senior School commemorated the event with imaginative and provocative exercises, emphasising the risks associated with plastic pollution. Students created posters, collages, and slogans that emphasised the urgent need to ban single-use plastics and the catastrophic effects that plastic waste has on ecosystems. Their artistic endeavours fostered communal action and personal responsibility while promoting sustainable alternatives.
The children at DPS-Bopal in Ahmedabad showed that environmental stewardship starts with awareness and little everyday activities through their passionate engagement and practical actions. The event acted as a powerful reminder that significant and long-lasting change is achievable when residents of all ages band together for a common goal.
