Powerful Entrepreneurship Development Ignites New Hope

The Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India in Ahmedabad, along with the India Think Council, hosted the Culmination of Udyamita Pakhwada 2025 and the 5th Cultural Economy Conclave. The event on 20 November 2025 brought together respected leaders from government, academia and industry. The presence of Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati, Governor of Odisha, as the Chief Guest, added importance to the occasion. Events like this highlight how states are supporting new ideas, young talent and innovation across India. Many states now encourage start-ups and small businesses, as they help boost local jobs and income.
The programme also welcomed Shri Arjun Modhwadia, Gujarat’s Minister for Forests and Environment, Climate Change, Science and Technology. Gujarat has long been known as one of India’s most business-friendly states, with strong support for start-ups through policy and skill-building schemes. His presence showed the link between entrepreneurship and sustainable growth, as new ideas today often focus on climate action, clean technology and responsible use of natural resources.
Special guests at the event included distinguished leaders such as Dr Neerja A. Gupta, Vice-Chancellor of Gujarat University; Shri Uday Mahurkar, noted author and former Central Information Commissioner; Dr Sunil Shukla, Director General of EDII; and Shri Saurabh Pandey, Founder of the India Think Council. Each of these figures has contributed to discussions on India’s economic and cultural development. Gujarat University has been active in building research and innovation hubs. India Think Council has been known for its work on policy studies and heritage-linked economic insights. EDII has long focused on helping people start businesses through training, support and research.
Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati praised EDII’s efforts in building an entrepreneurial spirit among young people. He said the institute’s work is important for a country that wants to lead in innovation. Many studies show that countries with strong entrepreneurship cultures create more jobs and faster economic growth. India, with its rising youth population, depends heavily on programmes that help young people start businesses, build skills and solve real-world problems.
He also appreciated the 15-day Udyamita Pakhwada celebration held across the country. Such programmes often include workshops, mentoring sessions, exhibitions and talks by successful entrepreneurs. These help young people understand how to start their own ventures and how to face challenges such as finance, planning and digital skills. The Governor also praised India Think Council for running the Cultural Economy Conclave, which brings together experts to discuss how India’s culture, history and trade practices shape modern economic behaviour. Many regions in India depend on cultural industries such as handloom, crafts, music, tourism and traditional foods, making cultural economics a rising field of study.
Shri Arjun Modhwadia said that entrepreneurship and start-ups are the need of the hour. India is now one of the world’s largest start-up ecosystems, with thousands of new ventures every year. Events like Udyamita Pakhwada help spread awareness about starting a business, understanding markets and using digital tools. He also noted the link between culture and economic choices. India’s traditions often inspire local businesses, from handicrafts to wellness products, and these businesses help preserve heritage while supporting modern markets.
Dr Neerja A. Gupta pointed out that every academic institute plays a part in national growth. Institutes like EDII that promote entrepreneurship help people convert ideas into action. She highlighted that such events create a supportive ecosystem where young people feel encouraged to try new things. India’s colleges are now focusing more on innovation cells, start-up clubs and skill-based courses.
Shri Uday Mahurkar spoke about how combining culture and entrepreneurship can fuel India’s next stage of growth. When young people learn skills along with an understanding of heritage, they can create meaningful and sustainable businesses. Many successful start-ups in India today focus on traditional crafts, eco-friendly practices and local art forms.
Dr Sunil Shukla shared that EDII has always believed in the power of entrepreneurs to transform society. India is moving towards a strong global economic position, and this growth will depend on people who can create businesses that solve problems and create jobs. EDII celebrated Udyamita Pakhwada across 10 states and 3 Union Territories. These activities reached many women, youth and communities, helping them see entrepreneurship as a possible career path.
He added that it was a privilege for EDII to work with India Think Council on the Cultural Economy Conclave. The conclave explored how economics, politics, society and culture shape people’s decisions and business practices. This fits well with EDII’s vision of spreading entrepreneurship in every part of society.
Together, the event showed the strong connection between India’s cultural roots and its future in innovation and enterprise.
