The Tennis Premier League (TPL) is bringing its special event, the “Race to Gold Gujarat Masters,” to Ahmedabad after a successful leg in Delhi. The tournament will be held with the help of the Gujarat State Tennis Association at the Gujarat University Tennis Stadium on 22 and 23 November. The venue is part of the campus of Gujarat University and supports high-level sports facilities, including tennis courts.

This “Race to Gold Masters” initiative shows TPL’s aim to find India’s next tennis stars by offering a 25-point format platform. TPL was founded in 2018 by Kunal Thakkur and Mrunal Jain.  Young players across age groups will compete, helping to build India’s tennis ecosystem.

The tournament gives a clear path for boys and girls in categories U10, U12, U14, and open men’s and women’s categories. In the Ahmedabad leg, about 160 players are participating, drawn from regions like Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Bhavnagar and Bharuch, each region contributing around 40 players. This shows how the event draws regionally and offers opportunities to many young athletes.

Prizes and opportunities are strong: winners in eight categories will win scholarships of ₹75,000 each. They will also get to meet senior tennis icons such as Leander Paes and Rohan Bopanna, and top international players participating in TPL’s Season 7. Exposure like this matters a lot for young athletes.

The tournament also sets up excitement for the main TPL Season 7, scheduled from 9 to 14 December 2025 at the same Gujarat University Tennis Stadium in Ahmedabad. This is a big moment because it marks the League’s move out of Maharashtra for the first time, expanding its reach. Also, for the first time, players ranked within the global top 50 will be included, offering fans a chance to see high-level tennis live in Gujarat.

Hosting this event in Ahmedabad gives both the city and state a strong role in India’s tennis growth story. The venue has modern infrastructure, and the city is emerging as a sports hub. For young players, regional events such as this open doors to high-stakes competition, recognition and national-level platforms. The presence of the TPL and the meeting of youth and international stars indicates how sport is being leveraged for talent development.

From a journalist’s viewpoint, this tournament is more than just matches—it is a system builder. It links grassroots youth categories with professional league structures. It blends regional participation (with 160 young players from multiple cities) and national ambition (top-50 ranked players, scholarship money, high-profile League). It also neatly aligns with India’s push to strengthen sports at all levels.

For the young participant from Bhavnagar or Surat, this event offers real hope: you compete locally, you earn a scholarship, you might interact with international stars, and you might move into the main League. That pathway is vital. For the organisers, this event is a proof point of growth, of expanding from base categories to Open, from local to national, from youth to professional.

The Race to Gold Gujarat Masters in Ahmedabad is a key milestone for TPL and Indian tennis. It shows how sport infrastructures are aligning with youth talent, regional spread, scholarships, and high-level exposure. Watch for the main Season 7 in December—it promises to bring top players, big competition and further momentum for tennis in Gujarat and India.
