One of the most gifted actors now working in the business is Rani Mukerji. She has starred in a number of blockbuster films, given ground-breaking performances, and received numerous awards throughout the course of her nearly 25-year career. Rani will be officially opening the 28th Kolkata International Film Festival alongside West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, adding yet another feather to her already-glistening crown. On the occasion, the actress will also receive praise for her work in Hindi films.
Together with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Rani Mukerji will travel to Kolkata to launch the Kolkata International Film Festival. In recognition of Rani’s celebrated career over the past 25 years and her incalculable contributions to the Indian cinema industry, the festival has invited her as a distinguished guest to its 28th edition. At its opening event, where dignitaries from Indian cinema, foreign cinema, and West Bengal will be present, she will be honoured.
She is an inspiration to young Bengalis since she is a highly successful mainstream movie star who has endured for decades and reinvented herself in the film industry.
A trip to Kolkata is always significant to Rani since it reminds her of her formative years and of the early cinematic passion she developed. I’m honoured that this time they have chosen to celebrate my career and felicitate me alongside other achievers. The Kolkata International Film Festival has previously honoured the legacy of filmmakers like Satyajit Ray, Ritwik Ghatak, Mrinal Sen, and many Bengali artists and technicians who have contributed to creating this vibrant Indian film industry. I feel incredibly humbled to be getting this honour in front of legends of West Bengali, Indian, and international film. It is a source of great pride for me.
