India in Stron Position

At Punjab’s Mohali Cricket Stadium, Team India is now playing Sri Lanka in the first of a two-match Test series. On Day 2 of the first Test between India and Sri Lanka, star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja completed his second Test century and recorded his career-high score of 175 not out off 228 balls as India declared their innings at 574/8.

According to PTI, Jadeja had a chance to reach a double century but sent a message to the Indian dressing room urging them to declare the innings because he wanted the hosts to take advantage of the ‘varying bounce and turn.’

Jadeja At It Best

Jadeja stated that he knew it was the best time to declare an innings since it would allow India to put a weary Sri Lankan side into bat in difficult circumstances.

“I also informed them that there is varying bounce and that deliveries have begun to rotate.” So I sent a message saying that the strip has something to give and that we should put them in to bat right now. After the second day’s play, Jadeja was cited by PTI as saying, “They were already exhausted fielding for roughly quarter to two days (five sessions).”
“Because they were weary, it was difficult to play the big shots right immediately and bat for long periods of time.”

So the aim was to declare early and take advantage of the batters’ exhaustion “He went on to say more.

The erratic bounce of the surface in Mohali even assisted Jadeja in catching opposing skipper Dimuth Karunaratne.

“There were some pitches that turned and some that stayed low when I was hitting. Off the surface, there was natural variety, and that was the plan. Keep the ball on the stumps, because if we keep it on the stumps, it can go straight or turn from the same location, which is exactly what happened. My first delivery (to Karunaratne) turned, and I decided to bowl the second ball on the fourth stump, thinking that if it turned or stayed low, there was always a chance of taking a wicket.

On reaching the century mark, Jadeja remarked about his desire to develop every time he plays for India. “Every time I play for India, I want to enhance my game. When I get a chance to score runs, I want to incorporate that possibility into my play, so overall, I’m extremely delighted “he stated
