  • GREENS 2026 aims to position India as a global leader in recycling and circular economy, aligning with Net Zero 2070 and Viksit Bharat 2047 goals.
  • The summit will focus on waste-to-energy, e-waste, hazardous waste, EPR policies, and circular design

Landmark summit and expo, jointly organised by GCCI and SALT Alliances in Gujarat, will help position India at the forefront of sustainable growth

The Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI) and SALT Alliances are collaborating to organise GREENS 2026, the Global Recycling Expo & Summit, which will take place at the Helipad Exhibition Centre in Gandhinagar on June 4, 5, and 6. At an event hosted by the GCCI and SALT Alliances in Ahmedabad on Monday, October 6, the announcement was formally made.

Even though its economy is still in its infancy, India has set lofty goals to achieve net-zero emissions by 2070 and energy transformation by 2030 because it understands the benefits of a green economy for the coming generations. GREENS 2026 was planned to take place on June 5, 2026, which is World Environment Day.

On a single platform devoted solely to recycling, waste management, and circular economy solutions, it will bring together international experts, legislators, business executives, and innovators.

Designed as the first large-scale event of its kind in India, Greens 2026 is a movement aimed at hastening the nation’s shift to circular growth and sustainable resource use, not just an exhibition and conference.

At least 350 exhibitors from all points along the waste-recycling value chain are expected to attend the event. The event will also feature about 30 seminars led by prominent figures from around the world. An estimated 15,000 stakeholders, including corporations, recyclers, investors, startups, academic institutions, and government representatives, are anticipated to participate in GREENS 2026.

Finding scalable solutions is more urgent than ever at a time when India produces at least 165 million metric tonnes (MMT) of waste yearly, a number that is expected to increase significantly in the years to come. In addition to promoting discussion on extended producer responsibility and circular design, GREENS 2026 will highlight advances in the areas of material recycling, e-waste, biomedical waste, municipal trash, wastewater recycling, hazardous and industrial waste management, waste-to-energy, and air pollution control.

A strategic advantage and a position as a leader in sustainable growth are provided by holding the summit in Gujarat, a state with progressive regulations and innovative activities in ship recycling, waste-to-electricity, and renewable energy.

Gujarat has one of the highest rates of treated municipal solid waste (85%), according to a 2021 Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) study. Gujarat has effectively cleared 95% of the accumulated waste, remediating 210 lakh MT of legacy waste out of 221 lakh MT from 140 dumpsites, according to Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 2.0 data. Gujarat now leads all of the major states in terms of trash disposal activities.

“GREENS 2026 is a defining milestone in India’s sustainability journey,” stated Mr. Sandeep Engineer, President, GCCI. Gujarat has continuously taken the lead in implementing progressive environmental policies, such as sophisticated waste management and renewable energy.

In addition to showcasing innovative ideas, this summit will create long-lasting alliances that translate vision into quantifiable results. In order to create a truly green economy, GCCI is pleased to be a participant in this historic project, which will spur policy discussion, accelerate innovation, and draw investment.

“GREENS 2026 is a movement to turn waste into value, not just an event. Our objective is to establish a dynamic forum where stakeholders from many industries may work together to provide long-term solutions. In order to make GREENS 2026 a landmark event for India’s circular economy, we are thrilled to collaborate with GCCI,” stated Mr. Ketan Prajapati, Director of SALT Alliances.

GREENS 2026 will also highlight the market potential of recycling as a sunrise industry, given that the sector is poised for significant expansion and Gujarat is establishing standards in waste management.

“India’s recycling equipment market, valued at $1,723.4 million in 2023 and projected to reach $2,641.0 million by 2030, reflects the immense growth potential of this sector,” stated Ms. Aditi Shukla, Director, SALT Alliances. The goal of GREENS 2026 is to accelerate this growth by uniting global finance, technology, and policy on a single platform. We wish to make sure that recycling is viewed as a force for competitiveness and sustainable economic growth, rather than only as an environmental requirement, by promoting cross-border cooperation and innovation.

In order to fulfil the country’s commitments to Net Zero 2070 and strengthen the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, GREENS 2026 seeks to act as a catalyst for cooperation, investment, and policy convergence. GREENS 2026 hopes to establish itself as a coveted global platform on the sustainability calendar, where environmental responsibility and economic progress coexist, by promoting waste as a resource and circularity as a competitive advantage.
