Review of Hindi movie “Jewel Thief”.

Jewel Thief was promoted a lot, but I didn’t find the movie that promising. It has a simple storyline. There’s a diamond called Red Sun worth ₹500 crores. The plan is to steal it. The thief is Rihan Roy, played by Saif Ali Khan. The one who wants the theft to happen is Rajan, played by Jaideep Ahlawat. In the role of a police officer, we have Kunal Kapoor, whom we are seeing on screen after a long time.

Many heist films have already been made. One of the oldest is the 1967 movie Jewel Thief, in which Dev Anand played the role of a jewel thief.

So maybe Sumit Arora, who wrote this film, thought that the audience hadn’t seen a heist movie in a while, so he decided to write one.

But since there have been so many heist films and web series already, I didn’t find anything new in this story. It’s a very basic and simple storyline.

It doesn’t seem like the writer put much effort into the script. That’s why there’s no point in talking much about the story – it’s 100% predictable.

There is no character development for any of the characters. It goes straight to the point, and the planning for the robbery begins. No proper connection is made between the characters, either.

Did Saif Ali Khan read the script before signing the movie?

What kind of compulsion made Saif choose such a predictable script?

Although Saif has performed with full dedication, he has given his 100% in this movie. And honestly, I watched the movie only because of Saif Ali Khan.

Jaideep Ahlawat is rocking in this movie. He is too good. His style, look, and expressions are excellent. He completely looks and acts like a mafia boss.

I didn’t like Kunal Kapoor’s acting at all. Poor dialogue delivery, even though the dialogue is simple. But it felt like a trainee was delivering the lines. His facial expressions and body language were also not up to the mark. He could have done better.

Nikita Dutta looks beautiful, but as always in such films, the heroine has very little screen time and hardly any dialogue. She’s just there for glamour, and she has provided that glamour, though in a very limited way.

There’s no comedy in the movie. In such films, a little comedy works well, but this one has none. As I said, the writer didn’t seem to put any effort into the script or dialogue.

The music is also very basic. There’s no emotion like attention, fear, curiosity, tension, suspense, or anger – neither in the story nor in the music. Music is dull too.

There’s a song at the end of the film, which I didn’t even watch. I just couldn’t take any more of it, it was an overdose.

If you like heist-type movies, maybe you’ll enjoy this one.

There are no adult scenes in the movie, just a couple of swear words. If you’re okay with that, you can watch it with your family.
