Avinash’s Journey: Navigating Politics and Intelligence Agencies
Anupam Kher steals the show with his portrayal of Avinash in Part 1 however, in Part 2 the show is taken on his shoulder by Mohit Raina as Avinash. An ex-cop navigating through the complexities of politics and intelligence agencies. His character brings a wealth of experience, and Kher’s performance is nothing short of commendable. A pivotal scene, where Dr. Khan narrates Avinash’s story, showcases Kher’s acting prowess, leaving a lasting impact on the audience.
Mohit Raina’s Evolution: From Doubts to Dazzling
After watching Mohit Raina don the army uniform in “URI: The Surgical Strike,” expectations were high. However, at the onset of “The Freelancer,” Raina’s fit into the series seemed uncertain. Whether it was his physique or body language, it took a couple of episodes to fully accept him as Avinash. Yet, as the series progresses, Raina’s portrayal gains strength and his physicality becomes secondary to the intellect required for the mission. Mohit is more than superb in the second part also. His physic and agility seem perfect for the show, especially in the second part.
The Familiar Plot: A Plea for Creative Exploration
The central plot, revolving around a girl trapped in the clutches of ISIS, is not entirely novel for Indian audiences. The recurring theme raises a plea for creativity in storytelling. The threat of ISIS is undeniably real, and the exploitation of innocent lives is a grave concern. However, the time might be ripe for writers to explore fresh concepts rather than rehashing the same narrative. It’s an invitation to infuse creativity into the world of Indian series and films.
What Sets “The Freelancer” Apart: A Freelancer’s Mission
“The Freelancer” distinguishes itself by introducing a freelancer on a mission to extract a loved one. The collaboration of intelligence agencies adds a layer of complexity, making the series stand out in its genre. In part 2 of the show, the role of CIA is also critical.

In totality the show is awesome and all the actors have done their job perfectly well.
