Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), the pioneering national university dedicated to national security and policing education, and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Alwar, have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and accreditation and affiliation, opening a new chapter in the advancement of professional training and academic collaboration in India’s security domain.

RRU is a Central University located in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. It is designated as an Institution of National Importance under India’s Ministry of Home Affairs. The university focuses on national security training, cybersecurity, digital forensics, internal security, and more. SSB is a Central Armed Police Force responsible for guarding India’s borders with Nepal and Bhutan. This collaboration brings together a strong academic hub and a frontline force in border security.

With more than 900 trainees currently undergoing training at SSB, Alwar, including recruits and promotional cadres, this partnership is set to integrate the strengths of both institutions. While exact numbers for Alwar are not publicly detailed, the SSB regularly trains recruits and promotes personnel across multiple centres. By joining forces, the two will develop a comprehensive system for national security training that combines theory and practical skills.

The affiliation will not only provide trainees with exposure to cutting-edge academic and professional modules but also enhance their preparedness to meet the evolving challenges of internal security, border management, and law enforcement with greater efficiency. RRU offers many diplomas, degrees, professional certifications, and research programs in cybersecurity, forensic science, policing, strategic studies, maritime security, and more. Bringing these academic strengths into SSB’s national security training will equip personnel with modern, globally benchmarked skills.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sanjeev Yadav, Deputy Inspector General, SSB, Alwar, emphasised the importance of this collaboration. He highlighted that it will enable the start of joint training programs, research, and development activities with RRU. He noted that combining field expertise with academic research will create a more dynamic training ecosystem benefiting both institutions and the wider security forces. RRU’s TREE model (Training, Research, Education, Extension) supports this by fostering a strong national security training environment that’s rich with knowledge, research, and extension activities.

Pro Vice Chancellor of RRU, Prof. (Dr.) Kalpesh H. Wandra underlined RRU’s rapid growth in training, research, and extension. He said the partnership with SSB through this MoU is a remarkable step forward, boosting the university’s mission of knowledge-driven and practice-oriented learning. He added that RRU and SSB can now offer more advanced, specialised national security training together, nurturing leadership, innovation, and professionalism. Under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, RRU, has already expanded with multiple campuses in Gandhinagar, Pasighat (Arunachal Pradesh), Shivamogga (Karnataka), Puducherry, and more. Each campus brings unique strengths to national security training, making this MoU even more valuable.

RRU, as a national security and policing university, has been providing diploma and degree certification to personnel across national security organisations in India. RRU’s offerings include programs in disaster management, forensic accounting, forensic psychology, internship diplomas, law, cyber security, machine learning, strategic and defence studies, and PhDs in key areas. These are all part of its broader two-tier (national and international) national security training strategy. With this MoU, RRU reaffirms its commitment to continue offering structured academic programs, accredited professional training, and certifications that empower Bharat’s security forces with globally benchmarked knowledge, skills, and leadership abilities.

In summary, this MoU between RRU and SSB brings together academic excellence and practical experience in a strong national security training partnership. Trainees at Alwar will get access to high-quality academic modules, and RRU students and researchers can gain real insights from SSB’s frontline expertise. This makes for a richer, faster-growing, and more effective learning path for India’s security forces.
