The Board of Cricket Council of India has approved the Women’s Indian Premier League for 2023.

The championship will be held for the first time this year. The WPL 2023 would follow the same format as the Indian Premier League, according to the BCCI.

WPL is a significant step in advancing women in cricket. Female cricketers will have many opportunities to display their skills during the competition.

It is extremely difficult to get a spot in the Indian cricket squad, whether you’re a woman or a man in blue, and not everyone gets the chance. However, the WPL will offer chances to numerous female players who are less well-known.

There is still a lot to learn about the teams and athletes who will compete in the WPL in 2023. However, it’s obvious that some of the very skilled female players will face off against one another in the tournament.

On January 23, 2023, technical proposals for the Women Indian Premier League 2023 WPL were accepted, and on January 24, the board reviewed the technical bids. To assess the technical offers, the Board of Cricket Council of India (BCCI) has teamed up with the Mumbai-based law firm Argus Partners.

Dates for Women’s IPL Auctions

Five teams from various Indian zones would play T-20 matches in the Women’s IPL. Additionally, the BCCI has made bids for each of the five franchises taking part in the competition. According to rumours, the WPL 2023 auction will take place in New Delhi.

The five original franchises will engage in a paddle fight during the second week of February. Notably, the start and auction dates for the keenly awaited Season 1 of the WPL have still not been disclosed by the BCCI.

Once the WPL Team List is prepared, the BCCI will announce the player auction date. 22 games between the five clubs will be played during the inaugural season of the WIPL, including the semifinals and the championship match.

WPL 2023: Base Player Cost

The Board of Cricket Council of India (BCCI) has set the reserved base pricing for the players at Rs. 50, Rs. 40, and Rs. 20 lakh. It is between Rs. 10 lakh and Rs. 20 lakh for uncapped players. Each team’s pay cap will be Rs 12 crore, and there will be 150 players in the auction pool.

Female IPL Bidding Organizations

The bidders who are successful in acquiring the franchises before the inaugural season after competing in the BCCI’s bid process are:

Adani Sportsline Pvt Ltd – Ahmedabad

Indiawin Sports Pvt Ltd – Mumbai

Royal Challengers Sports Pvt. Ltd – Bangalore

JSW GMR Cricket Pvt Ltd – Delhi

Capri Global Holdings Pvt Ltd – Lucknow

The owner of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Royal Challengers Sports Pvt Ltd, will also take part in the WPL bidding.

According to sources, Mithali Raj, the former captain of the Indian women’s national team, will participate in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) in 2023. Mithali will join Gujarat Titans for WPL 2023 as the team’s captain rather than playing as a player.

Female IPL Teams

The first Women’s Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season will have 5 Teams.

WPL Schedule 2023

The Women’s Indian Premier League schedule will be made public once BCCI completes the auction and other team-related tasks. The Board of Cricket Council of India (BCCI), will undoubtedly release information on the WIPL 2023 after the Indian Premier League.

The schedule for the IPL 2023 has not yet received an update from the board. IPL 2023 is anticipated to begin on April 1, but BCCI has not provided any confirmation of this.

WPL Venues 2023

There is currently no relevant information regarding WPL 2023 venues. Any information regarding the locations for the Women’s Indian Premier League in 2023 will be made accessible once BCCI has chosen all of the teams.

Throughout the course of the competition, a total of 22 games will be played, some of which will take place on the teams’ home fields.

WPL: Expensive Players in 2023

The team’s best players will be sought after by the selectors. The likelihood of receiving a bid in the WPL 2023 Auction is very high for the players who did well in the T20 format. Smriti Mandhana or Harmanpreet Kaur can end up as the WPL’s (Women’s Premier League) 2023 player with the highest pay.
