Swadeshotsav 2025 opened at the Gujarat University Ground, Ahmedabad.

The city of Ahmedabad started “Swadeshotsav 2025” with great pride and excitement. The festival opened on Friday, 5 December 2025, at the Gujarat University Ground, also known as the GMDC Ground. It marked an important step towards the vision of “Aatmanirbhar Bharat,” which aims to support local products and help India become more self-reliant. The event celebrated Indian-made goods, small industries, start-ups and the rich culture of the country.

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah opened the festival. His presence gave strong support to the idea of choosing and promoting Indian products. Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Shri Harsh Sanghavi also attended the programme. Their presence showed the state’s commitment to helping MSMEs, local craftspeople and young entrepreneurs. The state government has been encouraging small businesses with new schemes, easy loans and support for local artisans, which has helped many families across Gujarat.

Leaders from the national organisation also took part in the event. Among them were respected Kashmiri Lal, All India National Organiser, Shri Manohar Lal, Regional Organiser, and Shri Ishwar Sajjan, State Co-contact Chief. Their participation showed the nationwide efforts being made to spread the message of Indian-made products. Many such organisations across India run training workshops, help small producers with marketing and guide start-ups in building strong businesses. Their support helps small sellers get access to bigger markets.

The festival brought strong energy to the Swadeshi movement. Shri Amit Shah and Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel shared that choosing Indian-made items helps local workers, boosts the economy and keeps traditional skills alive. In recent years, demand for handloom, handmade goods and natural products has grown across India. Many young start-ups are working on eco-friendly packaging, organic farming and sustainable products, giving a new direction to the Swadeshi push.

Swadeshotsav 2025 is a five-day mega exhibition. More than 600 stalls have been set up by participants from different states. The stalls display handloom, handicrafts, farm products, MSME goods and new start-up products. Many exhibitors include women-led groups, tribal artists and rural craft workers. Over the last decade, India has seen a strong rise in handmade products, with states like Gujarat, Rajasthan and Odisha exporting crafts to many countries. Such festivals help these communities get better recognition and income.

The event includes live demonstrations of weaving, pottery, bamboo work and local art forms. These demonstrations help young visitors understand how much skill and hard work go into each product. Experts say that such events help preserve traditional skills that are slowly disappearing as machine-made goods grow in the market.

Food stalls at the festival showcase local tastes from Gujarat and other states. The festival also includes cultural performances, folk music and dance shows. These performances celebrate India’s cultural diversity and attract families, students, tourists and shoppers.

Start-ups at the festival are displaying new technology-based products, organic goods, home-made snacks, eco-friendly items, natural beauty products and health foods. Many young entrepreneurs are getting a chance to meet investors, buyers and mentors. In India, start-ups have grown quickly in fields like agriculture technology, clean energy and handicraft design. Exhibitions like this help them understand customers’ needs and build strong networks.

The festival is expected to welcome more than 2.5 lakh visitors by 9 December 2025. Organisers believe that such events encourage people to support local producers and reduce dependence on imported products. Each purchase helps a small family, a farmer, an artisan or a young entrepreneur.

Swadeshotsav 2025 stands not only as a business event but also as a strong message to support India’s culture, creativity and talent. It shows how people from different parts of the country can come together to promote Indian products. For visitors, it is a chance to explore, learn and celebrate India’s identity with pride.
