Tennis Premier League Announces a Multi-Year Streaming Partnership with JioHotstar
Tennis Premier League (TPL), India’s leading tennis league, has announced a 3-year partnership with JioHotstar as the official streaming partner beginning with TPL Season 7.
This multi-year deal marks an important step forward in expanding the digital footprint of tennis in India. It will give fans across the country wider access to live matches, highlights, and exclusive features through JioHotstar’s innovative platforms.
India has seen a sharp rise in online sports streaming in recent years. JioHotstar is one of the biggest OTT platforms in the country, known for high-quality live streaming of major sports like cricket, football, and kabaddi. With millions of users, it helps sports leagues reach a much larger audience, especially young viewers who prefer to watch matches on mobile phones.
TPL is played in a 25-point format, making it easier for the audience to understand and helping position tennis as a mass sport in India. The league is supported by iconic Indian tennis legends Leander Paes, Sania Mirza, and Mahesh Bhupathi, along with celebrity co-owners Rakul Preet Singh and Sonali Bendre Behl. Season 7 will be held from December 9 to 14, 2025, at the Gujarat University Tennis Stadium in Ahmedabad, a major sporting hub that is set to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games.
The 25-point format is unique to India and has helped make matches shorter and more exciting for new fans. Backing by legends such as Paes and Mirza adds strong credibility, as they have inspired generations of Indian tennis players. Ahmedabad has also become a major sporting city, with world-class venues like the Narendra Modi Stadium hosting international events.
This season will also see Top 50 international players competing in the league for the first time, raising the level of competition significantly. The international contingent includes Luciano Darderi (World No. 26), Alexandre Muller (World No. 42), Damir Džumhur (World No. 57), Dan Evans (former World No. 21), and two-time Grand Slam champion Rohan Bopanna, along with several leading Indian and international players.
Bringing the Top 50 players to an Indian league shows how far TPL has grown. Many tennis fans in India usually only see such players in Grand Slams or ATP tournaments. Their presence will also help young Indian players learn from global talent.
The partnership comes at a time when tennis viewership and fandom are growing rapidly in India. Through JioHotstar’s extensive reach and cutting-edge digital infrastructure, TPL aims to engage a new generation of fans and strengthen its position as India’s top sporting entertainment property.
Sports like badminton, kabaddi, and football have grown in India through strong digital coverage. Tennis is now following the same path, and TPL’s focus on making the sport simple and fast-paced is attracting teenagers and young adults.
“We’re thrilled to welcome JioHotstar as our official OTT partner for the next three seasons,” said Kunal Thakkur, Co-Founder of the Tennis Premier League. “TPL has always aimed to revolutionise how tennis is consumed in India, and this partnership ensures that fans everywhere can now experience the league in the most engaging and accessible way possible.”
Mrunal Jain, Co-Founder of the Tennis Premier League, added, “Our vision has always been to make tennis a household sport in India. Partnering with JioHotstar gives us the perfect platform to amplify that vision — reaching millions of fans and giving them a front-row seat to the excitement of TPL Season 7.”
Both co-founders have played key roles in shaping TPL since its start in 2018. Their goal is to make tennis a sport that families can enjoy together, similar to cricket in India.
TPL Season 7, powered by Clear Premium Water, will feature eight teams – SG Pipers, Gurgaon Grand Slammers, Chennai Smashers, GS Delhi Aces, Yash Mumbai Eagles, Hyderabad Strikers, Gujarat Panthers, and Rajasthan Rangers, with Yonex Sunrise as the Official Equipment Partner.
Yonex Sunrise is one of the leading sports equipment brands in Asia and is widely used in tennis and badminton. Team-based tennis leagues help build city pride and make the sport more exciting for casual viewers.
