In 2023, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) intends to hold a Women’s IPL. The Women’s IPL has been approved, according to BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, and would feature five or six teams.

The owners of the current IPL teams are also said to be interested in the women’s tournament.
