In a drug case connected to the passing of Sushant Singh Rajput, the NCB has filed draught charges against Rhea Chakraborty.
According to the Narcotics Control Bureau, late actor Sushant Singh Rajput received repeated delivery of “ganja” from co-accused people, including actor Rhea Chakraborty’s brother Showik Chakraborty.
In the drug case connected to the actor’s murder, which was made public on Tuesday, the anti-drug crackdown agency had filed draught charges against 35 defendants in the special NCB court last month.
The draught charges include that between March 2020 and December, “either individually or in groups,” all the defendants engaged in a criminal conspiracy to obtain, buy, sell, and distribute drugs to “high society and Bollywood,” according to the news source.
The accused allegedly funded drug trafficking and used drugs like “ganja” (marijuana), “charas,” cocaine, and other psychoactive substances in the Mumbai Metropolitan area without a legitimate license, permit, or authorization, according to the draught allegations.
Accordingly, they have been charged in accordance with the draught charges under the appropriate provisions of the NDPS Act, such as sections 27 and 27 A (financing illicit traffic and harboring offenders), 28 (punishment for attempts to commit crimes), and 29 (whoever aids in or is a party to a criminal conspiracy).
According to the allegation, Rhea Chakraborty, who is listed as accused number 10, got many supplies of “ganja” from Dipesh Sawant, Samuel Miranda, and others and gave them to Sushant Rajput. Between March 2020 and September of that year, she even made payments for those deliveries.
According to the draught accusations, Showik, Rhea’s brother, frequently spoke with drug dealers and frequently received a delivery from co-accused individuals after placing orders for marijuana and hashish/charas. These shipments were given to Rajput.
On June 14, 2020, Sushant Singh Rajput was discovered dead in his Bandra home. On September 8 of the same year, the Narcotics Bureau detained his girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty after the agency filed drug-related charges against her in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case. A month after spending time in Mumbai’s Byculla jail, she was granted bail.
